Introduction to Xi’an
Xi’an, also known as Chang’an, is the capital city of Shaanxi province, a deputy provincial city. It was the starting point of the ancient Silk Road and the core area of the “Belt and Road Initiative” and an important central city in western China. It is a national research, education base. It is selected as a UNESCO’s “World Historic City” 1981. Xi’an has jurisdiction over 11 districts and 2 counties, with a total area of 10,752 square kilometers. 1. Xi’an Jiaotong University (211,985, double first class)
Xi’an Jiaotong University is the earliest institution of higher education in China and is well-known at home and abroad. It is a key university directly under the Ministry of Education. In the 1920s and 1930s, the university formed the characteristics of “science and engineering management” and was known as the “MIT” of the East. The university is the key construction school of the “7th Five-Year Plan” and “Eighth Five-Year Plan”. It is the first batch to enter the national “211” and “985” engineering construction schools.
