School of Art and Science

The School of Art and Science of SUST (website) was established in March 2016. Its predecessor was the Basic Course Teaching Research Department of the Beijing Institute of Light Industry, which was established in 1958. It was renamed from the merger of the School of Science and the Department of Foreign Languages established in 2002. In addition to the teaching of university mathematics, university physics, college English and other public courses for doctors, masters, undergraduates and vocational students, the college has been teaching staff construction, professional construction, and discipline construction in recent years. There has been considerable development. The college has three departments: mathematics, physics, and foreign languages. It offers five undergraduate majors in information and computational science, mathematics and applied mathematics, data science and big data technology, applied physics, and English. It has two majors in mathematics and physics. Master’s degree program and Master of English Translation (MTI) professional degree authorization points.

The school currently has 1,043 students. Among them, there are 942 undergraduates and 101 graduate students. The college focuses on cultivating students’ theoretical basic knowledge, innovative thinking ability, physics and mathematics methods for analyzing and solving problems, and using foreign languages to exchange translation and writing skills. Graduates are welcomed by employers with solid theoretical foundation and strong hands-on ability.

Job Position

Shaanxi University of Science and Technology, located in the north side of Xi’an, is looking for foreign language teachers.

Job Position: English Teacher
Salary 7,000-14,000 RMB depending on your degree and qualification
– Bachelor’s degree: 7,000-10,000 RMB per month
– Master’s degree and above: 10,000-14,000 RMB per month
– 2 years teaching experience or 120 hours or more TEFL/TESOL/CELTA
– A teaching sample video is strongly preferred
– Housing and air fare provided.

Work Hours
12-16 classes per week, each for 45 mins

1. Bachelor or above degree
2. Native Speakers only
3. Age from 25- 55 years old
4. 2 years teaching experience and 120 hours of TEFL required

Xi’an City Life: City Guide: Life in Xi’an

“Our campus is in the north of Xi’an city, and is about 15 mins away from the Xi’an Bei High Railway Station, 15-20 mins from downtown (by taxi, fare: RMB 20), and 35 minutes from the airport (RMB 70). On the weekend you can hop on a bus or bullet train to either downtown or nearby cities like Xianyang and Weinan, each city has its own culture and characteristics. For longer holidays you can fly to other cities in China or other countries (the airport connects to foreign cities including LA and London). Our campus is not in downtown, but it is nice and modern, and most importantly very safe to live in. If you are someone looking to have good night/club life, our university may not be your place. But if you want to stay in somewhere quiet, safe but still want to sometimes commute to downtown to feel things are happening there, our university is for you. We hope our foreign teachers are interested in Chinese culture and can enjoy what this ancient Chinese city can bring to them while living and teaching at our university”
