Introduction to Taizhou University
Taizhou University (TZU) is a public university in Taizhou, Zhejiang province. The university is managed by the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province and Taizhou City. In 1978, the university was built as Taizhou Teachers College. It trains teachers for public schools in Zhejiang province. In 1993 the university opened non-teaching majors. Now it has became a comprehensive university with majors including literature, science, engineering, management, law, education, history, medicine, and economics.
The university has two campuses, the Jiaojiang campus and the Linhai campus. It has a total of 15,289 students. Taizhou University always regards students development as its core value. Students have achieved great success in various provincial competitions. We insist on opening up our education with the globe. We have exchange programs with nearly 20 universities in the United States, Germany, South Korea, New Zealand, Sweden etc.
School of Foreign Languages
The School of Foreign Languages was established in 2003, formerly known as the Department of Foreign Languages of Taizhou Teachers College. The College consists of English Department, Business English Department and University Foreign Language Teaching Department. It has three undergraduate majors: English (Teacher), English and Business English, among which English major is a key specialty in Zhejiang Province. There are 1351 full-time students in the school, and there are 91 full-time teachers, including 5 professors, 20 associate professors and 6 doctors. There are foreign language courses including Japanese, German, French and Russian.
The college actively expands international cooperation. The university cooperates with Jacksonville State University (JSU) to develop undergraduate programs in 2+2, and “3+1+1.5”. We carry out the “4+1” master’s postgraduate cooperation and training project with Leeds Beckett University.
