Introduction to Hangzhou Dong Cheng Elementary School 

Dong Cheng Elementary School (website: http://hsddcxx.jgedu.net.cn/) affiliated to Hangzhou Normal University is a public primary school in Jianggan District; it has two campuses: The Yiyuan Campus and The Keyuan Campus. The school covers a total area of 36386 square meters and a building area of 24760 square meters. Currently, Dong Cheng Elementary School has more than 2900 students in 71 classes with 172 teaching staff.

Under the guidance of the school philosophy “The great soil to nurture the best souls”, which is advocated by Hongxia Wang the headmaster, the school has made enormous strides in education. The vision of the school is to be “the enchanting campus loved by students & the spiritual home enjoyed by teachers”. Aimed to be “an excellent elementary school highly respected and deeply loved”, the school has made great efforts. Curriculum construction is focused and education reform is deepened. With the team construction optimized, an overall success will be achieved, therefore realize the quality enhancement of educational internationalization and informatization.

Decades since its establishment, Dong Cheng Elementary School has further developed in international communication. Dozens of honorary titles has been awarded. The aloha international Abacus Arithmetic competition was successfully hold in May 2014 and was highly praised. The school has also established friendship with Canada Montreal Pearson Education Group and Mid-Tennessee State University since 2009. Exchange learning and communication between the countries have broaden the international vision in education. Moreover, Canada Montreal class project has launched in April 2017, combining the original STEAM teaching methods into the daily teaching routine.

Dong Cheng Elementary School has been rated “A rank Teaching Quality School” in Jianggan District, Green Initiative School and Demonstrated parent school. It is now truly becoming the enchanting campus loved by students & the spiritual home enjoyed by teachers.

If you are interested in opera, then you’ve come to the right place for there are lots of theaters in Hangzhou giving performance of opera shows!

Food

Hangzhou is a culinary paradise with a large number of delicious dishes. Hangzhou’s local cuisine enjoys a nation-wide reputation and dishes prepared in its style are reputed to be “fresh, tender, soft and smooth, with a mellow fragrance”. Some of the better-known examples of Hangzhou’s regional cuisine are: West Lake Fish in Sweet and Sour Sauce, Dongpo Pork, Beggar’s Chicken, Fried Shrimps with Longjing Tea, and Hangzhou Soy-sauce Duck. Sounds interesting? Behind these dishes, there always seems to be a beautiful story linked with a historical figure in Hangzhou. In addition to the traditional Hangzhou food or Chinese cuisine, plenty of restaurants offer south-eastern or western-style food. In Hangzhou, you never have to worry about going hungry.
