Introduction to Qingdao University of Science and Technology
Qingdao University of Science and Technology (青岛科技大学, website) is a multi-disciplinary university with distinctive characteristics, focusing on work, science, engineering, literature, economics, management, medicine, law, art, and teaching. The school is a national “111 plan” project construction unit, a key university in Shandong Province and a famous university for the application of basic talents in Shandong Province. It has been evaluated by the Ministry of Education as “the outstanding university for the evaluation of undergraduate teaching work” and “the typical experience of graduate employment in the country” “Universities” and “National Typical Experience Colleges of Innovation and Entrepreneurship” won the honorary title of “The First Provincial Civilized Campus of Shandong Province” and were praised as “the Huangpu of China’s rubber industry”.
The predecessor of Qingdao University of Science and Technology was Shenyang Light Industry Senior Vocational School, which was founded in 1950, and moved to Qingdao in 1956. In 1958, it was approved as the Shandong Institute of Chemical Technology by the People’s Government of Shandong Province, and began the process of officially hosting higher education. In 1984, it was renamed Qingdao Institute of Chemical Technology with the approval of the Ministry of Education, and it was transferred to Shandong Province from the Ministry of Chemical Industry in 1998; Qingdao Arts and Crafts School was incorporated in 2001. In March 2002, it was renamed as Qingdao University of Science and Technology with the approval of the Ministry of Education. The Laoshan campus was put into use in August 2002, and the Gaomi campus was put into use in 2009. The Shandong Chemical Industry Research Institute was incorporated in 2016. The Sino-German International Cooperation Zone (Sino-German Campus) was put into use in 2019. The school’s career development has continued to write a new chapter .
Qingdao University of Science and Technology has formed a school structure of “three places and five campuses” in Qingdao, Gaomi, and Jinan. The school building covers an area of 920,000 square meters. Qingdao University of Science and Technology currently has 5 first-level disciplines authorized by doctorates, 5 post-doctoral research stations, 22 first-level disciplines authorized by masters, 15 master’s degree categories, and 76 undergraduate majors. Formed a number of advantageous characteristic subject groups represented by materials science and engineering, chemical engineering and technology, power engineering, and engineering thermophysics, among which 3 disciplines including chemistry, materials science, and engineering entered the top 1% of global ESI disciplines Four disciplines have been selected as the “first-class disciplines” in Shandong Province’s key construction, and their number and influence are among the top in provincial universities. Qingdao University of Science and Technology adheres to scientific research and development, and its scientific and technological innovation ability has been continuously improved.
