Introduction to Jiujiang Vocational and Technical College
Jiujiang Vocational and Technical College (九江职业技术学院) is a full-time ordinary higher school established with the approval of the Ministry of Education. It is the only national model vocational college in Jiangxi Province. Founded in 1960, the school was formerly Jiujiang Shipbuilding School, and is affiliated to the First, Third, and Sixth Ministry of Machinery Industry and China State Shipbuilding Corporation. In March 1999, the school was transferred from the National Defense Science and Technology Commission to the Jiangxi Provincial People’s Government. It is one of the first 10 schools in the country to hold higher vocational education directly under the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Education.
Jiujiang Vocational and Technical College adheres to the school’s philosophy of “establishing schools with high quality and flourishing schools with special characteristics”, adhering to the school motto of “Medical Road, Technically Committed to Technology,” promoting the campus culture of “ship military characteristics,” and clearly “based on Jiangxi and facing the whole country. Cultivate high-quality technical and technical talents to serve the military industry and the economic and social development of Jiangxi. After nearly 60 years of development, the level of school running and social influence have significantly increased. In 2010, it passed the acceptance of the “National Model Higher Vocational College Construction Project” by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance, becoming the only higher vocational college in Jiangxi Province that has entered the ranks of 100 national model higher vocational colleges. In 2014, we started to jointly train undergraduates with applied technology, and officially opened a new chapter in the cultivation of undergraduates with applied technology. In 2016, it was listed as the “National High-quality Vocational College Construction Project Unit” in Jiangxi Province.

Jiujiang Vocational and Technical College has two campuses, Luxi and Shili. It covers an area of more than 1,400 acres and has more than 20,000 full-time students. There are 8 secondary colleges and 4 teaching departments. It is a professional system with advanced manufacturing, electronic information, and ship engineering as its main features, as well as coordinated development of a variety of categories such as construction engineering and economic management. Has 5 national demonstration majors, 2 Ministry of Education enhancement service capability majors, 2 national machinery industry innovation majors, 2 national equipment manufacturing demonstration majors, 8 defense-military industry-specific majors, and 3 provincial applied undergraduate pilot majors , 7 specialty colleges in Jiangxi Province, 8 demonstration professions in provincial vocational colleges, and 3 specialty professions in the national machinery industry.
Jiujiang Vocational and Technical College has 1034 full-time teachers, 2 national teaching teams, 1 national vocational education teacher teaching innovation team, 4 provincial teaching teams, and 1 provincial master studio. 87 individuals including advanced individuals in national vocational education, 555 talents from Gansu, talented teachers in provincial universities, and chief technicians in the province. The school has an industrial engineering center, a production engineering training center and 197 professional experimental training rooms. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is over 200 million yuan. Among them, it has 5 national demonstration professional training bases, 3 central vocational education training bases, 1 national talent shortage training base, 15 central and local co-established university laboratories, and 13 central financial support special development projects for local universities. A large number of national and provincial high-quality training bases, such as training bases, have established stable off-campus practice training bases and employment bases in cooperation with more than 200 units such as China Shipbuilding Group Corporation.
