Introduction to Huizhou University
Huizhou University (website) is located in Huizhou, a national civilized city, a national historical and cultural city, and an important city in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It is a full-time undergraduate college in Guangdong Province, a general undergraduate transformation pilot university, a provincial and municipal undergraduate university and a provincial master’s degree. The project construction unit, the second batch of provincial-level dual-creation demonstration bases, and the provincial-level national teacher education innovation experimental zone were established. The school covers an area of nearly 2,500 acres and is open to students from 23 provinces across the country. There are 16,798 full-time students.
Campus
The predecessor of the university was the Huizhou Normal School founded in 1946 in Guangdong Province. In 1978, it was upgraded to Huiyang Normal College. In 1988, it was the only teacher’s college in Guangdong Province that was commended by the State Education Commission. In 1991, it was evaluated in Guangdong Province. It was rated as a first-class university. In 1993, it merged with the Northwestern Textile Institute Huizhou Branch and Huizhou Education College to form a special-level Huizhou University. In 2000, it was upgraded to a full-time undergraduate college. In 2006, it passed the assessment of the undergraduate teaching level of the Ministry of Education. . In the past 73 years since the school was founded, the school has gradually established a “high-level applied university based on Huizhou, integrating Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and Dawan District, serving Guangdong, radiating the country, and building a distinctive science and engineering university with coordinated development of teacher education.” Positioning and training objectives of “high-quality applied talents with scientific spirit, humanistic quality, international vision and innovative thinking” have trained nearly 150,000 graduates for the country and society, and have become the cradle of advanced applied talents in the Dongjiang River Basin.
The university currently has 18 secondary colleges and 54 undergraduate majors, covering ten majors such as science, engineering, agronomy, literature, law, economics, history, management, education, and art.
