Introduction to Fuzhou University

Fuzhou University (FZU) is a national “double-class” construction university and the national “211 Project” key construction university. Founded in 1958, the university has developed into a key university with a focus on work, science and engineering, and coordinated development of science, engineering, economics, management, literature, law, and art.

Fuzhou University Campus

The university campus has a beautiful environment, advanced teaching and research facilities, and a sound public service system. The main body of the school is located in Qishan Campus. It has Fuzhou Qishan, Yishan, Tongpan and Xiamen Jimei, Gulangyu and Quanzhou Quangang, Jinjiang and other campuses. It covers an area of more than 7,000 acres and has a total public housing area of 1.42 million square meters. The total fixed assets of the school is 3.9 billion yuan, of which the value of teaching and research equipment is 1.3 billion yuan; the total area of sports venues is 160,000 square meters; the library has a collection of 3.44 million books and 3.76 million electronic books. The school continues to promote the construction of cultural campuses, smart campuses and ecological campuses.

The university has 21 colleges (including one independent college and one Sino-foreign cooperative school); there are 24,164 students in the school, and nearly 10,500 graduate students. The school now has 84 undergraduate programs; 39 first-level master’s degree programs and 12 professional degree programs (including engineering master’s degree programs with 22 engineering fields); 11 first-level disciplines and 2 second-level subjects. Doctoral points (excluding first-level subject coverage); 11 post-doctoral mobile stations. The school has one national key discipline and one national key (cultivation) discipline. The “Chemical Science and Engineering Discipline Group” has been selected as a list of world-class disciplines announced by the state. The chemical sciences have entered the top of the international ESI discipline, and three disciplines have entered. The international ESI discipline ranks in the top 1%. The comprehensive strength of the school ranks No. 601-800 in the world in the rankings of authoritative world universities such as US News Network, Thames, Shanghai Soft Science, and 26-62 in mainland universities.

Fuzhou University implements the strategy of “Strengthening Talents” and has 2,050 teachers. The employment rate of college graduates has remained above 95% for many years and has won the “Top 50 Employment Jobs for National College Graduates”.

The university implements the science and technology innovation strategy. There is one national university science park, 12 national and 120 provincial and ministerial level science and technology innovation platforms, including one national key laboratory, eight national engineering research centers, and three countries. International Science and Technology Cooperation Base, 3 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education, 1 Engineering Research Center of the Ministry of Education, 1 provincial and departmental collaborative innovation center, and 1 natural resources department innovation service platform.

Fuzhou University has carried out in-depth cooperation and exchanges with the Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Tianjin University and the Fujian Institute of Physical Education of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; it has more than 140 universities, research institutions and well-known institutions in 49 countries and regions. The company has established a cooperative relationship. The school is a Chinese government scholarship recipient institution, which recruits international students from nearly 30 countries. The students’ overseas study projects cover more than 95% of the colleges; more than 50 overseas experts and scholars are employed to teach at the school. The school has a Sino-foreign cooperative school, the Mayus International School of Engineering, and three Sino-foreign cooperative education projects covering undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The school is now a key project unit for the national reform pilot project of cooperation between Taiwan and Taiwan. The exchanges and cooperation between Taiwan and Taiwan have developed in depth, and the two-way joint training mode has become a new bright spot for educational exchanges and cooperation between Fujian and Taiwan.
