2018 International Summer Camp of JUFE Opened successfully

In the morning of June 11, the International Summer Camp of JUFE, which was organized by the International Cooperation and Exchange office and undertaken by the school of Tourism and Urban Management, was successfully opened.

 

Twenty overseas students and instructors from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Mexico, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Moldavia and Ireland together with the 12 JUFE students attended the opening ceremony. Vice President Wang Xiaoping, Xiao Long, Director of OICE, and Mr. Zou Yongwen, dean of the School of Tourism and Urban Management attended this event.

Firstly, on behalf of JUFE, Vice-president Wang Xiaoping sent the warmly welcome to these students from all over the world, and introduced the history and educational achievements of JUFE. Then he talked about that this year—2018 had significant meaning to China and JUFE. 2018 is the 40th anniversary for China’s reform and opening up, and it is also the 40th anniversary for JUFE’s re-open and the 95th anniversary for its establishment. He hoped that everyone could promote the understanding of the great achievements of China’s reform and opening up and the accomplishments of JUFE by taking this chance in summer camp, it would be an excellent and unforgettable study experience.

Secondly, Xiao Long praised and appreciated the overseas students who came to JUFE from distant countries and expressed the warmly welcome to them. She briefly introduced the basic situation of international education of JUFE and hoped that the students would learn from each other and enhance the understanding of multiculturalism, cultivate cross-cultural communication skills in this summer camp.

Then, Chinese volunteers representative Chen Runze, a student from the School of Tourism and Urban Management, talked about his thoughts from the three points. The first one was Nanchang, which meant a fabulous city in southern China in ancient Chinese language. The second one was the word “international”,which could summarize the activities. In the end, he expressed his warmly welcome to the international friends by using the old saying, “Have friends come from afar, isn’t it a happy thing?”

Next, foreign students representative Cristina from Moldavia said it was an honor that JUFE could have such platform to encourage the communication between Chinese and foreign culture, and China was like a teacher, and she hoped everyone could enjoy such a experience.

At last, Wang Xiaoping conferred the flag of summer camp which embedded with the implication of peace and unpretentiousness to international students and wished the summer camp go through successfully. After the opening ceremony, under the guidance of volunteers, the international students visited the university history Hall, China Tax Ticketing Museum and the Alumni Pavilion, and gained a deeper understanding of JUFE Culture.

It is known that in this 13-day activity, international students will deeply experience the charm of Chinese traditional culture through courses, business visits, scenic tours and other activities, and they would understand the deep root and factors which contribute China’s 40 years of great success in reform and opening up age.
