On July 13, the opening ceremony of the First Graduate Summer School of Shaanxi Normal University was held on the university’s Yanta campus when the seven foreign teachers to teach at the school were invited and welcomed.
They are offering ten courses on SNNU’s two campuses and more than 400 graduate students have signed up for the school.
University officials Zheng Hairong, Xu Feng, Song Chuandong, Yu Jianing, Tang Sanyi, Liu Kun and other teachers from the Graduate School, International Programs Office, School of Life Science, School of Mathematics and Information Science and International School of Chinese Studies attended the ceremony.
International Programs Office director Xu Feng welcomed the foreign teachers and hoped they could enjoy their stay at SNNU and bring their American instruction style into SNNU classroom.
Graduate School vice dean briefed the audience of the basic information of SNNU’s graduate education and the idea behind initiating this summer school. She hoped this move could help encourage SNNU’s graduate students engage in more international academic exchange, stimulate their potential for innovation and boost the internationalization process.
Mr. Robert Sheehan, speaking on behalf of the foreign teachers, introduced the foreign teachers, thanked the university for the opportunity to come to Xi’an and said they looked forward to knowing more about China and meeting Chinese students.
Prof. Tang Sanyi welcomed the foreign teachers and assured them of the support and cooperation from the schools concerned during the program.
