Fodil Selmouni, he is teaching at Tourism College of Zhejiang from 2016 and is still at the college now in 2024. (Here is an interview with Fodil back in 2018)
Before I start, I would like to go back to the year of September 2016 which is the time I made my debut as a Foreign English Teacher in this School. At that time, I have received a warm and kind welcome from our College leaders, nothing comparable to what I have seen before. We often use the term “Culture Shock” as an excuse to differentiate one individual from another. But, in my opinion, apart from the language we speak,I did not automatically notice outstanding gaps between the Chinese living standards and the ones I have been taught in Canada.
开始之前，我想先回到2016年9月，是我作为外教第一次来到旅院。那时，我受到了学院领导的热情欢迎，这是从未有过的。我们常用“文化冲击”来区分不同的群体。但是，在我看来，除了我们的语言不同，我并不认为在中国的生活水平和我在加拿大读书时所学到的有什么巨大的差异。
First of all, throughout my experience in this school, I have got to see the outstanding beauty of our College coming along with the four seasons “Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer”. In my years of being a student and teacher, this might be the first time I see a Campus that never lose its charm and attractiveness. For that reason, I would like to thank our incredible team of hard-working men and women, who devote their entirecareer and serve as Gardener, Architect and Construction worker to give us the benefit of walking around this splendid environment.
首先，我在旅院有机会能欣赏到学校美丽的四季，这可能是第一次看到一个如此美丽且有魅力的校园。因此，我想感谢我们学校辛勤劳作园丁、建筑师、建筑工人们，感谢他们为我们营造了如此美的校园环境，让我们能漫步在美丽的校园。
Also, I would like to thank indeed our Dear school leaders from top to bottom. Although I may not see them often, I havesuch a tremendous admiration for people who work behind the scenes in order tobring a new aspect – partnership – layer to our school.
当然，我也想感谢我们敬爱的学校领导。尽管我见到你们的机会不多，但是非常尊敬我们幕后工作的人们，是你们推动着学校向新形势、新合作、新层次发展。
We have recently celebrated the 34th Anniversary of the School and after 34 years in the making I have to say that the College is becoming more and more beautiful as we move along. In the meantime, we have also celebrated the 15th Anniversary of the Foreign Languages Department which I have a particular affection for since it brings every cultures, languages on a same pedestal.我们刚刚庆祝旅院34周岁的生日，同时，我们也刚刚庆祝了外语系的15周年，我对外语系有着深厚的情感，因为在外语系，每一种文化和语言都融合于一体。
Last but not least, I would like to dedicatethis Speech to each and every student on Campus. As a matter of fact, without them, none of us would be here today and therefore it is our duty to inspire them in the best way possible. We all have been students at different times in history and that’s why we all understand how important essential it is to have a teacher next to you ready to achieve great things for you in school.
最后，我想将这番演讲献给每一位学生，因为没有他们，就没有今天的我们。因此我们的职责就是尽我们所能启发学生。我们都曾当过学生，所以我们都知道，能有一位老师在身边指引你，实现你的理想，是多么重要。
As Teachers ourselves, it is critical to remember to enjoy students and everything they have to offer. Sometimes it can be a struggle, but if something goes wrong, remember that there is always a way to fix the problem. No matter what happens, we all need to keep in mind that there the power to make change will be there.
作为老师，能享受与学生和他们提供的所有反馈很重要。有时，可能会有困难，但是如果有问题，总有解决问题的办法。不论发生什么，记住人类从不缺乏改变的力量。
As teachers, it is essential to push them toreach their full potential. I, of course, include myself into that discussion and it is our duty to see that all students are being motivated since they definitely deserve our time and our full attention in regards to their education.
作为老师，我们要激励学生去发挥他们的潜能。当然也包括我在内，我们的职责就是激励所有的学生，因为他们的教育值得我们的时间和精力。
Throughout these past two years, I have also fallen in love with the Chinese Language. Being a teacher in this school also means taking into consideration the environment in which I live. On top of that, I strongly believe that in the next few years Chinese as a language will not be an option anymore and is going to become indispensable around the world.
过去两年，我也深深地爱上了汉语。作为这所学校的老师也意味着要融入这里的环境，因此，我坚信未来几年，汉语将不再仅是一个选择，它将会成为必不可少的世界语言。
Finally, from my educational experiences, I know how valuable teacher encouragement and motivation is for our students. In the future, I intend to cooperate with each and every other teacher in my field to just do that.
最后，从我的学习经历，我知道老师的鼓励和激励对学生有多重要。未来，我想和我领域里的每一位老师更好的合作，来实现这一目标。
Besides, As an English teacher, I have to carry the values principles of the Tourism College of Zhejiang wherever I go.The interactions that I had with each and every one of you reminds me of the ones that I often have back home in Canada.I view the Tourism College of Zhejiang as a second home indeed and my attachment to it will remain unbroken for the years to come.
此外，作为一名英语老师，我谨记旅院的校训。我和每位老师的交流都提醒我在加拿大的原则。旅院对我来说是我的第二故乡，未来我对旅院的热爱依旧如初。
I have no doubt in my mind that my devotionand loyalty to our School will remain intact for the years to come and as we are about to close the year 2017, I have high hopes for the year 2018. Our contribution to the school will always be remembered. Besides, on top of beinga role-model for our students, it also my duty to promote our Public Institution overseas. In fact, each and every time I go back home for the Holidays, I tend to speak to my family about all the things I have been able to achieve for the School.
毫无疑问，我将继续热爱旅院，做好我的教育工作，非常期待2018新的一年。人们会记得我们曾经的贡献。此外，除了做好学生的榜样，我也将做好旅院的宣传。事实上，每次我回国度假，都会和家人谈起我在学校获得的成绩。
As a matter of fact, I cherish each and every opportunities to be grateful and thankful for being a part of such an Extraordinary and Phenomenal Institution.
因此，我珍视每一次机会，感谢能成为这所学校的一份子。
