Introduction to WFLS Meiga Academy
WFLS Meiga Academy (武汉外国语学校美加分校, website) was established in 2005. At that time, Meiga Group cooperated with Wuhan Foreign Language School to set up the American-Canadian branch of Wuhan Foreign Language School, which was a school directly under the Wuhan Education Bureau.
The school has developed into a modern boarding school with a 12-year system of elementary school, junior high school and international high school, with more than 3,500 students and 530 faculty members.
The school is a foreign language school integrating Chinese culture. The school’s foreign language education introduces authoritative English and American textbooks and employs more than a dozen foreign teachers. Implemented small class teaching, participated in the subject research of Beijing Foreign Studies University, was awarded the “Chinese Basic English Quality Education Experimental Base”, and was rated as the “Second National Model School for Foreign Language Teaching and Research in Elementary and Secondary Schools”.
The school introduces the concept of STEM education, employs more than ten science teachers who can teach in English, uses the original “Science Dimensions” textbook, and conducts science education through small class teaching and group research.
The school has signed cooperation agreements with many well-known universities in the United States to gradually realize the internationalization of educational concepts, the internationalization of teacher resources, and the internationalization of courses and teaching. In 2013, the US-Canadian branch, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and the Wuhan Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences jointly established Hubei’s first “Nature School” to jointly carry out environmental protection education activities. The school is the first batch of 25 schools in Hubei Province to be selected into the “US-China Thousand Schools Hand in Hand” project organized by the Ministry of Education.
