The Zhejiang University-University of Edinburgh Institute (ZJU-UoE Institute) is a collaboration in the field of Biomedical Sciences between Zhejiang University in China and The University of Edinburgh in Scotland, United Kingdom. These two premier universities have established a joint international research institute at the International Campus of Zhejiang University in Haining, Zhejiang, building on the existing strengths of both institutions to foster collaborations in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research. 1. Job Description:

We are looking to appoint a Grant, Policy and Communications officer at the Zhejiang University – University of Edinburgh (ZJE) Institute based at Zhejiang International Campus, Haining, China. The role is an exciting opportunity to play an important part in delivering the ZJE’s research and impact ambitions through the development of high quality, high-impact research grant applications, development of best practices for research and teaching and communication of our work and its impact to internal and external stakeholders. We anticipate that you will have experience of research, of writing technical/academic papers/policy documents and have strong science communication skills.

A major part of the role will be to manage all aspects of grant application lifecycle, working with International scientists for proposal development and creation of high-quality impact statements. Horizon scanning will also be an essential activity to ensure that senior academic colleagues are aware of appropriate funding opportunities (local, national and international) and relevant policy updates.

We are looking for an individual with a good technical background ideally in a biomedical or related field together with good writing skills. The role requires independent working and planning of workload, in addition to excellent project management and communication skills.

1  Co-ordinating development of high-quality proposals and   responses to and from applicants and collaborators and grant funding   agencies.

·    Supporting early development of opportunities identified by horizon   scanning, with particular focus on ZJE priorities.

·    Identifying and engaging academic groups to develop proposals in   collaboration with academic research leads.

·    Training and mentoring other staff in writing and developing their own   grants, further spreading the expertise in grant writing in professional and   academic members.

·    Align, translate and evolve policies for research and teaching at ZJE   to ensure best practice in research and teaching from Zhejiang University and   University of Edinburgh.

·    Manage communication of our activities to internal and external   stakeholders.

1) Master’s   degree or above, biomedical or related field is preferred,

2) under 35 years old;

3) Excellent   language skills in both Chinese and English;

4) Strong   sense of responsibility and occupational ethics;

5) PhD   or relevant experience preferred.
