Introduction to Hangzhou Vocational and Technical College
Hangzhou Vocational and Technical College (HZVTC, website) is a full-time higher vocational college sponsored by the Hangzhou Municipal People’s Government. Its predecessor was Hangzhou Workers University, which was formed by the merger of six schools including Hangzhou Machinery, Chemical, Textile, Silk, Light Industry and West Lake Electronics, which was established by the Hangzhou Economic Commission. It was established in 1998 and officially established in 2002.
The college is located in Hangzhou, which is known as the “paradise on earth”. It is located in “University Town” at Xiasha District, with a planned land area of more than 1,000 acres, 9951 full-time students and 713 faculty members.
There are nine secondary colleges under the college: Youjia Mechanical and Electrical College, Business and Tourism College, Dali Women’s College, Linjiang College, Information Engineering College, Youth Automobile College, Hangzhou Animation Game Academy, Rainbow Fish Rehabilitation Nursing College, and Special Equipment College. The college offers 34 majors such as CNC technology, art design, and e-commerce. It has 3 national-level professional teaching resources, 4 key construction projects of the central government, 12 provincial-level majors, 8 provincial-level key majors, and 2 central financial support training bases.
The college has a public training base in Hangzhou, which is invested by the municipal government with an investment of 300 million yuan and covers an area of 30 mu. It is open to the whole city, integrating training, appraisal, research and development.
Hangzhou Vocational and Technical College also has innovative entrepreneurship and training bases, such as the Development Zone Higher Vocational Students Pioneer Park and the Development Zone Industry, Education and Development Institute.
In recent years, Hangzhou Vocational and Technical College has won 3 national-level teaching achievement awards and 7 provincial-level teaching achievement awards. It has won 41 national skill competition awards (including 14 first prizes) and 376 provincial-level skill competition awards (including 64 first prizes) and the number is among the highest in the province. The social influence and reputation have been continuously enhanced. Since 2010, more than 900 batches of various groups have come to study and exchange, and the number of visitors has reached more than 10,000.
