Zhejiang Dongfang Polytechnic (浙江东方职业技术学院, website) was established with the approval of the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province. It was formally organized in 2002 and has been registered by the Ministry of Education as a full-time ordinary college. It is included in the National Ordinary College Admissions Plan and recruits students from Zhejiang Province and some areas outside the province. In 2012, the college was restructured, directly under the Wenzhou Municipal People’s Government, and managed by Wenzhou Modern Service Industry Investment Group Co., Ltd. The predecessor can be traced back to Wenzhou Dongfang Vocational School and Zhejiang Dongfang Group Company Technical School, which were founded in 1994 by Zhejiang Dongfang Group, and Zhejiang Dongfang Vocational College, which was founded on this basis in 1999. In 2003 and 2013, the college successively passed the assessment of the talent training level of the Ministry of Education and the on-site inspection and evaluation of the talent training expert group. In 2011, the college was selected as a pilot unit of Wenzhou’s private education comprehensive reform. In 2012, it was selected as a demonstration school for Wenzhou’s civilian education comprehensive reform pilot school. The bureau has named Wenzhou Municipal Private Education Comprehensive Reform Pilot School as an excellent school for inspection and a model innovation and entrepreneurship education base for Wenzhou universities.

Zhejiang Dongfang Polytechnic is located in Wenzhou, one of the most dynamic southeast coastal open cities in China, one of the birthplaces of China’s private economy, and one of the three major cities in Zhejiang Province. The college is a “civilized unit” in Zhejiang Province, a “safe campus” and a “garden-style unit” in Wenzhou. The school inherits the fragrance of Wenzhou’s history and culture, and displays the beautiful scenery of the land, sea, and water of southern Zhejiang. It is an ideal hall for students to study, to acquire skills, to be ethical, and to cultivate themselves. The college currently covers an area of 494 acres, of which 164 acres of the Minjiang Road campus, about 330 acres of the first phase of the Jinhai New Campus has been put into use, and the second phase of the new campus has a planned area of 700 acres.

Zhejiang Dongfang Polytechnic now has the School of Humanities (Wenzhou School of Civil Administration), the School of Finance and Economics, the School of Management (Wenzhou Supply Chain College), the School of Digital Engineering, the School of International and Continuing Education, the School of Entrepreneurship (Fengyao College), and the Department of Social Science ( Marxism College) 6 secondary colleges and 1 public teaching department. The College and the Wenzhou Civil Affairs Bureau jointly established the “Wenzhou Civil Administration School” to train senior technical and technical talents in civil affairs. It is the earliest vocational college with a major in civil affairs in East China; the college also supplies with Wenzhou Commercial Bureau and Wenzhou The Institute of Supply Chain and other institutions jointly established “Wenzhou Supply Chain College” and “Wenzhou Supply Chain Research Institute” to provide talent and technical support for the development of supply chain-related industries. It is the earliest university in China to establish a supply chain college. In addition, the college also established the Yan Kiln College in cooperation with the Wenzhou Yan Kiln Society. At present, the “Yanyao Culture Research and Communication Center” of our institute has been evaluated by experts, and the party committee of the Social Science Association has decided to name it the ninth batch of Zhejiang Province social science popularization bases. It is the only comprehensive cultural and creative college in China that integrates the functions of collection, protection, academic research, inheritance and development, and entrepreneurial innovation.

Since Zhejiang Dongfang Polytechnic established the International Exchange and Cooperation Office in 2014, it has established long-term relationships with more than 20 universities and educational institutions in the United States, Britain, Spain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and other countries and Taiwan. Zhejiang Dongfang Polytechnic takes modern service industry majors as the mainstay and supports advanced manufacturing majors as the mainstay, forming equipment manufacturing, light industry textiles, electronic information, finance and commerce, civil engineering, tourism, education and sports, public management and services, etc A comprehensive school structure with coordinated development and distinctive development of eight major professional groups. The college currently has a total of 27 majors, of which 9 majors are provincial and municipal advantages, key, and specialty majors. “Electrical Automation Technology” is a provincial-level specialty, “Computer Information Management” is a provincial-level key specialty, and “Accounting” and “Logistics Management” and “Elderly Services and Management” are provincial-level specialty programs. The college also has 14 training bases (centers) of various types at various levels. In May 2018, Zhejiang Dongfang Polytechnic and the Management Committee of Wenzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone (Southern Zhejiang Industrial Agglomeration Zone) jointly established a service platform for the collaborative development and innovation center of production and education to create two major platforms, the Industrial College and the “Golden Sea Craftsman Valley”.
