Xi’an Aeronautical University (西安航空学院, website) is a full-time general college with an engineering-oriented and multi-disciplinary coordinated development. It is located in the historical and cultural city of Xi’an.
Xi’an Aeronautical University was founded in 1955, formerly known as the Xi’an Aeronautical Industry School, and is affiliated to the former Ministry of Aviation Industry. In 1957 the Lanzhou Aviation Industry School was merged. In 1960, it was upgraded to a vocational school and changed its name to Xi’an Aviation Industry College. It was later restored due to the adjustment of the national economy. In 1985, it was upgraded to Xi’an Aviation Industry Technical College with the approval of the former State Education Commission. In 1993, it was renamed Xi’an Aviation Technical College. Transferred to the locality in 1999, it belongs to the Shaanxi Provincial People’s Government and builds universities for the central and local governments. In 2012, it was upgraded to a regular undergraduate college with the approval of the Ministry of Education, and was renamed Xi’an Aeronautical College. For more than 60 years since its establishment, the school has always focused on the fundamental tasks of Lide Shuren, insisting on the cultivation of high-quality application-oriented talents and the service orientation of “based on Shaanxi, serving aviation, facing the west, and radiating the whole country”. Construction and local economic and social development have trained more than 88,000 application-oriented professionals.
Xi’an Aeronautical University currently has two campuses, Tong Hui and Yan Liang, covering an area of ??1158 acres, with a building area of ??more than 400,000 square meters.
