Introduction to Weinan Vocational and Technical College
Weinan Vocational and Technical College (渭南职业技术学院, website) is a higher vocational school approved by the People’s Government of Shaanxi Province and filed by the Ministry of Education. Its predecessors were the former Shaanxi Traditional Chinese Medicine School, Shaanxi Dali Normal School, Shaanxi Pucheng Normal School, and Shaanxi Weinan Agricultural School. The school running history dates back to the “Tongzhou Industrial Middle School” founded in 1905. In the past century, a large number of professionals have been trained, widely distributed in education, health, agriculture, forestry and animal husbandry, and have made important contributions to economic and social development. Well-known alumni such as Han Qide, vice chairman of the CPPCC, Wang Shuangxi, former vice governor of Shaanxi Province, Zhang Kejian, former director of Shaanxi Provincial Department of Education, and Chen Wuyu, former president of Xi’an Jiaotong University, have emerged. The more than 4 million-word monograph “Chinese Medicine Research Literature Abstract” compiled by the school’s Chinese medicine literature researcher Liu Shoushan has opened a precedent for modern Chinese medicine research. It is another comprehensive Chinese medicine literature masterpiece after the “Compendium of Materia Medica” and won the 1978 National Science Conference prize.
Weinan Vocational and Technical College is located in Weinan City, the east gate of Shaanxi, facing Huashan in the east, holding Weishui in the north, Chang’an in the west, and Qinling in the south. The school has two campuses, high-tech and Chaoyang, covering an area of 880 acres and a building area of 331,000 square meters. At present, there are 849 faculty members, including 534 full-time teachers, 195 in-service associate senior titles or above, 316 master’s degree or above, and 313 dual-teacher teachers. It employs 53 part-time teachers, 65 guest professors, and 8 provincial or higher-level talents such as Shaanxi Provincial Science and Technology Rising Stars, Provincial Teaching Masters, etc. The library has 890,300 books. 1125 computers for teaching. There are 128 experimental training rooms, 4 national training bases, and 18 provincial training bases. There are 259 off-campus training bases. There are 11,115 students at school. There are 12 teaching units under the College of Nursing, Medical College, Teachers College, College of Economics and Management, College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, College of Agriculture, College of 3D Printing, College of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, College of Engineering, College of Architectural Engineering, Basic Courses, and College of Continuing Education. There are 38 three-year higher vocational majors, seven five-year higher vocational majors, and six provincial key majors; covering six disciplines including medicine, education, agriculture, engineering, management, and economics.
Weinan Vocational and Technical College focuses on the needs of economic development, takes service as its tenet, is employment-oriented, and aims to improve students’ vocational ability. Has successively cooperated with Jiangsu Yurun Group Company, Peking University Third Hospital, Shaanxi Provincial People’s Hospital, Weinan Economic Development Zone “China Enzyme City”, High-tech Zone 3D Printing Industry Cultivation Base, New Energy Automobile Industry Park, Zhongde Nuohao, Shaanxi Tianyou Well-known enterprises and institutions such as Medical Management Group, Datang Mobile, Century Dingli Group, and Xindao Technology reached cooperation intentions. Continue to innovate and explore new models of school-industry-industry-college cooperation in running schools. Signed cooperation agreements with Malaysia, Korea, Japan and other countries. Through the on-campus and overseas job fairs, employment internship bases, government public welfare posts, and entrepreneurship project guidance, we provide one-stop employment services to build a “green channel” for student employment, with an employment rate of more than 97% for 5 years.
In 2015, Weinan Vocational and Technical College was awarded the title of “National Civilized Unit”; it was identified by the Provincial Department of Education as a provincial model vocational college construction unit. In 2016, the school was identified as a national high-quality vocational college construction unit.
