The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) is a comprehensive national key university with a focus on cutting-edge science and high technology, and a combination of medicine, specialty management and humanities.

Founded in Beijing in September 1958, the first principal was also served by Guo Moruo. Her founding was called “a major event in the history of education and science in China.” After the founding of the school, the Chinese Academy of Sciences implemented the policy of “running the school and combining the schools”. University of Science and Technology of China closely focused on the newly-developed science and technology fields in the country, and creatively combined science and engineering with cutting-edge science and high technology. At the beginning of 1970, University of Science and Technology of China moved to Hefei City, Anhui Province, and started its second venture.
