Introduction to Suzhou Vocational Health College
Suzhou Vocational Health College (苏州卫生职业技术学院, website) is a over 100-year-old Jiangsu provincial full-time public college-level college. It was formerly known as the Private School of Nursing Hospital established by the American Christian Church in 1911. It is a model higher vocational college in Jiangsu Province.
The college is located in the ancient city of Suzhou, known as “the paradise on earth”. The main campus is located in the northern part of Suzhou International Education Park by the beautiful stone lake. The other two campuses are located in the Academy Lane and the ancient town of Mudu. The college occupies a total area of 502,000 square meters (753 acres) and a building area of more than 350,000 square meters. At present, there are more than 10,000 full-time students, nearly 800 faculty members, 40% of senior titles, 73% of masters and doctors. It independently undertakes 5 projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, including 6 members of the Ministry of Education and the Special Committee, 3 outstanding teaching teams in Jiangsu Province and 3 scientific and technological innovation teams in Jiangsu Province, and 1 teaching teacher in Jiangsu Province.
Suzhou Vocational Health College has the Department of Social Sciences, the Department of Physical Education, the Department of Basic Studies, the School of Nursing, the School of Clinical Medicine, the School of Pharmacy, the School of Medical Technology, the Department of Stomatology, the Department of Optometry, and the Department of Hotel Management. The office is linked with the Jiangsu Province Health Vocational Education Research Office, as well as an expatriate medical staff training base designated by the Ministry of Commerce. Set clinical medicine, stomatology, preventive medicine, nursing, midwifery, pharmacy, Chinese medicine, medical inspection technology, medical biotechnology, medical imaging technology, stomatology technology, health inspection and quarantine technology, optometry technology, rehabilitation treatment 18 majors including technology, health information management, medical nutrition, accounting, and hotel management. Outside the hospital, there are more than 70 stable third-class internship hospitals and more than 260 internship training bases, which provide good conditions for students’ clinical training and internships. It has maintained good cooperative relations with the United States, Britain, Japan and other countries and relevant institutions in Taiwan and Hong Kong. The college attaches great importance to the development of students’ professional quality and strengthens practical teaching. Graduates are widely welcomed in the society for their good attitude, quick adaptability and strong ability. The employment rate has always remained above 98% and the quality of employment is good.
Suzhou Vocational Health College won the first prize of the Jiangsu Province Health and Family Planning Commission’s comprehensive target assessment for fifteen consecutive years. It is a pilot unit for the construction of a modern vocational education system in Jiangsu Province, and a vocational education training base construction unit supported by the central government.
