Sichuan Water Conservancy Vocational College (四川水利职业技术学院, website) was founded in 1956. It rises from the water and thrives on the weir. Since the founding of the school, under the cordial care of the Ministry of Water Resources and the strong leadership of the Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, the school has adhered to the school motto of “Yu pulse inheritance, good moral inspiration”, keeping in mind the mission of building the school, insisting on being a national education talent, and training a Ph.D. Nearly 70,000 technical backbones and management backbones, including student supervisor Wang Xingkui and others, have made important contributions to the development of water conservancy and hydropower in China, especially in Sichuan.
Sichuan Water Conservancy Vocational College currently covers an area of 854.3 mu. It has three campuses, the Dujiangyan Old Campus, the Shuanghe Productive Training Campus, and the Yangma New Campus. The total value of instruments and equipment is 110 million yuan, and the total assets are nearly 800 million yuan. Currently, there are more than 11,000 full-time students in the school. The majors include water conservancy, hydropower, aquatic products, construction, surveying and mapping, geology, resources and environment and other industries. Among them, the provincial level 1 excellent specialty, 5 provincial demonstration majors, 8 Ministry of Water Resources demonstration majors, and 3 provincial key majors. The college has two training bases supported by central finance, two vocational schools supported by central finance to improve professional service industry development capabilities, one provincial-quality online open course, eight provincial-quality courses, and provincial-level quality resources There are 3 shared courses and 4 national-level teaching resource bases. Sichuan Water Conservancy Vocational College has been holding the title of Provincial Civilized Unit for many years since 2003. It has won the National Advanced Collective of Water Conservation and Earthquake Disaster Relief, the Model Workers’ Home of National Water Conservancy System, Advanced Grassroots Party Organizations in Universities and Provincial Communist Party Members Collective and other honorary titles. In recent years, the college has been fully established as a national model vocational college in the water conservancy industry and a model vocational college in Sichuan Province. Sichuan Water Conservancy Vocational College combines production, learning and research to cultivate practical talents. In the 1990s, the college built a training campus that integrates 3 × 1250KW teaching and research hydropower plants, hydraulic machinery manufacturing practice factories, survey and design institutes, and engineering construction supervision companies. The practical training campus combines production with education. While providing more than 1,000 students with professional and productive training, it can achieve a total social product value of tens of millions of yuan per year. Technical services are extended to countries along the “Belt and Road” such as Central Asia, Southeast Asia, and Africa. It is unique in domestic vocational colleges.
In recent years, Sichuan Water Conservancy Vocational College has implemented “open school” and has established inter-university cooperative relations with Swansea University in the UK, Kaiser University in the United States, North Melbourne Higher Technical College in Australia, Tanzania Water Conservancy College and other overseas universities.
