Introduction to Shanxi Technology and Business College
Shanxi Technology and Business College (山西工商学院, website) was founded in 1986. In 2004, it was approved by the Shanxi Provincial People’s Government to establish the Shanxi Vocational and Technical College.
Shanxi Technology and Business College is located in Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi Province, a long-established and culturally rich national historical and cultural city. It has two campuses, Longcheng and Beige, with a building area of 371,700 square meters; the total value of teaching and research equipment is 10093.59 10,800,000 books in the library, 23,400 paper periodicals, 468,500 electronic books, and 118,200 electronic journals. There are 8 practice teaching centers and 3 productive internship training bases in the school. Among them, the Media Experimental Teaching Center and the Tourism Management Comprehensive Simulation Training Center are provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers. There are 82 internship training bases outside the school. Each major has a stable internship training base.
Shanxi Technology and Business College currently has 845 full-time teachers, including 669 full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, there are 550 teachers with master’s degree or above, 207 teachers with senior professional titles, and 211 “dual-teacher and dual-energy” teachers. There are 4 provincial-level teaching teachers and 5 school-level teaching teams.
Shanxi Technology and Business College has 12 secondary colleges and 2 teaching departments. There are 16,302 full-time students, including 15,631 undergraduates. There are currently 33 undergraduate majors, and a pattern of discipline and specialty construction focusing on management, engineering, arts, economics, literature, and education has been formed. Dance choreography, business management, accounting, radio and television choreography, preschool education, visual communication design, and civil engineering were selected as school-level advantage majors, of which dance choreography and business administration majors were selected as Shanxi province’s colleges and universities major specialty construction project. The school has actively carried out teaching research. In the past three years, it has presided over 10 provincial education reform innovation projects and won 3 provincial teaching achievement awards.
The college attaches great importance to carrying out applied scientific research, and has established 6 research institutions including the Xinjin Business Research Center, the Institute of Higher Education, and the Institute of Aesthetic Education. In the past three years, he has presided over 185 scientific research projects at various levels, including 1 national project and 94 provincial and ministerial projects. He has published 965 papers, 21 scientific research awards, 7 patents and software copyrights, and published. 45 monographs and teaching materials. The subject of business administration was selected into the “1331 Project” advantage and characteristic discipline construction plan of Shanxi Province, two “Business Management Disciplinary Summit Forums” were held, and the “Shanxi Undergraduate College Business Management Discipline Strategic Alliance” was established.
Shanxi Technology and Business College integrates innovation and entrepreneurship education into the whole process of talent training, strengthens employment guidance and service for students, and invests 1 million yuan to establish a venture fund. The University Student Pioneer Park pioneered by universities in the province was identified by Shanxi Provincial Department of Science and Technology as a provincial creative space; the school was named the first batch of “Demonstration Colleges for Deepening Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform” in Shanxi Province; 4 mentors were selected across the country Talent pool of outstanding innovation and entrepreneurial mentors. In the past three school years, students have won 150 provincial and higher prizes in various competitions, including 32 national prizes. The employment rate of school graduates is above 95%.
Shanxi Technology and Business College actively introduces overseas high-quality education resources, and has established friendly relations with more than 20 universities in the United States, Britain, Canada, Japan, Thailand and other countries, as well as in Taiwan. In terms of teacher exchange, student exchange, mutual credit recognition, etc. Carry out exchanges and cooperation. In 2017, in-depth cooperation with Canada’s Humber Institute of Technology established the English Language Center of Canada’s Humber Institute of Technology.
