Introduction to Shanghai Dianji University
Shanghai Dianji University (上海电机学院, SDJU) is an ordinary college that is oriented towards advanced manufacturing and modern service industries, focusing on engineering and coordinating the development of economics, management, literature, art, and science.
Shanghai Dianji University was established in 1953. It was prepared by the former Electrical Industry Administration of the First Ministry of Machinery Industry, and was formed by some teachers and students from Shanghai Middle School, Shanghai Industrial School, and National Shanghai Advanced Mechanical Vocational School. The school was originally named Shanghai Electrical Manufacturing School, and has gone through the development and evolution of Shanghai Electrical Manufacturing School, Shanghai Electrical Manufacturing Technical College, and Shanghai Electrical Technical College. In 1985, the school organized the first batch of five-year technical college education in the country. In 2002, it was listed as a national key higher vocational college. In 2004, Shanghai Mechanical and Electrical Industry School and Shanghai Mechanical and Electrical Industry Workers College merged into the school; in September of the same year, with the approval of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, the school was renamed Shanghai Dianji University and upgraded to a full-time ordinary undergraduate college. In 2011, the school was listed by the State Council ’s Degree Office as a pilot unit for professional degree graduates of the “Service Project for Serving National Special Needs Talents”, and began graduate education.

Shanghai Dianji University has two campuses, Lingang and Minhang. The campus covers an area of 1,147 mu. It currently has more than 12,800 full-time master, undergraduate and college students. The school has created a technology-applied teacher team by introducing and cultivating simultaneously. It now has more than 1,000 teaching and administrative staff, including more than 800 full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, the proportion of teachers with senior professional and technical positions is 36.6%, the proportion of teachers with doctorate degrees is 40.3%, and the proportion of “dual teacher” teachers is nearly 50%.
