Qinghai Nationalities University (青海民族大学, website), founded on December 12, 1949, is the first modern university in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. In the early days of the establishment of the school, it experienced the stages of training courses for young cadres of Qinghai Province, Qinghai Provincial People’s Public School, and Qinghai National Minority Public School. In 1979, he recruited graduate students majoring in language, literature, and ethnic history. In 1981, he obtained the first batch of master’s degree authorizations from the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council. It was the first university in Qinghai to offer degree and graduate education. In April 2009, the school was renamed Qinghai University for Nationalities. In 2011, the Qinghai Provincial People’s Government and the National Civil Affairs Commission signed an agreement to jointly build Qinghai Nationalities University. In 2014, the Academic Degrees Office of the State Council approved the joint training of PhD students by our university and Tianjin University. In 2018, the Degree Committee of the State Council approved our university as a doctoral authority. Since its establishment 70 years ago, Qinghai University for Nationalities has always adhered to the direction of running a socialist school, upholding the virtues of people, and actively exerting the dual functions of education and national work. Qinghai Nationalities University adheres to the school’s positioning of ethnic colleges and universities, and has trained more than 93,000 talents from ethnic regions, serving ethnic regions, especially Tibetan regions. At present, a total of 14,953 students from Han, Tibetan, Hui, Tu, Salar, Mongolian and other ethnic groups from 29 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions nationwide are studying at the school.
