Introduction to Ningbo University

Ningbo University (NBU) is an uprising comprehensive university that has grown up in the reform and opening up. It is a university built jointly by Zhejiang Province, the Ministry of Education and Ningbo. It is a university jointly established by the State Oceanic Administration and Ningbo City, and is also a key university in Zhejiang Province.

Ningbo University’s disciplines cover the eleven major categories of economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, management, and art. There are 24 colleges, and there are 7 provincial first-class A subjects and 6 Provincial first-class B-class subjects; according to data published by ESI, engineering, clinical medicine, chemistry, and materials science have entered the top 1% of academic institutions in the world.

There are 16,469 undergraduate students in the full-time program, 6,923 graduate students, 2,368 international students (including 1820 students), and 12,431 students with higher education. The university has 2,826 faculty members, including 1,843 teaching and research personnel. There are 401 high-ranking professional titles, 783 deputy high-ranking titles, and 1,158 doctoral personnel.

The main campus of the Ningbo University is located in the north area of Ningbo Higher Education Park, and there are several campuses such as Meishan Campus and Botanical Garden Campus. Ningbo University covers an area of 3,036 acres and the total construction area of the school building is 974,600 square meters. The school’s existing fixed assets totaled 2.22 billion yuan, and the total value of instruments and equipment was 980 million yuan. It has a Ningbo branch center for higher education digital resources centers in Zhejiang Province. The library covers an area of 51,000 square meters. It has 2.5 million paper books and 2.3 million electronic books. It has two affiliated affiliated hospitals (one of which is under construction). ), 10 non-affiliated affiliated hospitals and 9 teaching hospitals.

The quality of postgraduate education ranks among the top 100 in the country. The employment rate of students ranks among the top undergraduate universities in the province, and it is the “Top 50 Universities in China for National Employment”.

International Cooperation

Ningbo University has been vigorously promoting the process of internationalization of schools, and has established cooperation and exchanges with more than 180 colleges and universities in more than 70 countries. It has build a Sino-foreign cooperative education institution cooperating with the French Angers University. There are Sino-Australian MBA, Sino-US Mathematics and Applied Mathematics undergraduate, Sino-Canadian Hanber Project and other three Chinese-foreign cooperative education projects approved by the Ministry of Education; there are 12 undergraduate, 17 master’s and 7 doctoral level international programs. Also Confucius Institute was established in cooperation with the University of Iceland and the University of Matamata, Madagascar.

Ningbo University has become increasingly frequent in exchanges with Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. It has conducted inter-university academic and student exchanges and cooperation with the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Inter-school academic exchanges and cooperation agreements were signed with 30 Taiwan universities including Taiwan Chung Yuan University, Taiwan Ocean University, Yunlin University of Science and Technology and Taiwan Soochow University.
