Jiangxi Agricultural University (江西农业大学, JXAU, website) is a characteristic high-level university with advantages in agriculture, characteristics in biotechnology, and coordinated development of multiple disciplines. It has the right to grant a doctorate degree and is one of the first units in China to have the right to grant a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree. It is the earliest university in Jiangxi to launch graduate education. It is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Jiangxi Provincial People’s Government, a national forestry and grassland bureau and the People’s Government of Jiangxi Provincial People’s Government, and a national “midwestern university basic capacity building project” college. Jiangxi Agricultural University has a long history of running schools. The school traces back to Jiangxi Industrial School, which was founded in 1905, and was renamed Jiangxi Higher Agricultural School in 1908. Undergraduate education started at the National Chung Cheng University, founded in 1940, renamed Nanchang University in 1949, and established Jiangxi Agricultural College in 1952. Jiangxi Communist Labor University was founded in 1958, and was renamed Jiangxi Communist Labor University in 1968.
