Introduction to Jiangsu University

Jiangsu University (JSU, website) is located in Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province, a famous historical and cultural city. It was approved by the Ministry of Education in August 2001. It was a key comprehensive university formed by the former Jiangsu University of Science and Technology, Zhenjiang Medical College and Zhenjiang Teachers College. The University has a hundred years of history and profound cultural heritage.

As the earliest university in China establishing agricultural machinery and the earliest systematic agricultural machinery education, the university adheres to the service industry and always promotes the agricultural mechanization and modernization of China.

It has trained the first batch of agricultural machinery undergraduate, master and first agricultural doctors and postdoctoral fellows, and has made positive contributions on promoting farmers’ income, agricultural development and rural stability.

The comprehensive strength of the school has always ranked among the top 100 in the country. As early as 1978, the school was identified by the State Council as one of the 88 key universities in the country. In 1981, it became the first university in the country to have the right to grant doctoral, master’s and bachelor degrees. In recent years , schools are ranked top1000 among QS, THE, ARWU and other international authoritative world university rankings.

The university’s disciplines cover 12 major categories: engineering, agronomy, science, medicine, management, economics, philosophy, law, literature, education, history, and art.
There are 25 colleges and 93 undergraduate majors, more than 2,600 full-time teachers (32% of teachers with overseas experience of more than half a year), and over 37,600 students, including more than 23,000 undergraduates, more than 12,000 graduate students, and nearly 2,000 international students.

The campus covers an area of more than 3,000 acres, with various types of construction area of 1.2 million square meters. The total value of teaching and research equipment is 980 million yuan. The library has a building area of 51,000 square meters, a collection of 3.05 million books, 113 sub-databases, and 9 self-built featured databases.

It has an affiliated hospital that integrates medical care, education, scientific research and prevention. With Jiangsu University Press and magazines, it has published more than 1,500 kinds of books, as well as 11 types of international and domestic academic journals.
The six disciplines of engineering, materials science, clinical medicine, chemistry, agricultural science, pharmacology and toxicology of this university entered the top 1% of the world in ESI, and ranked 51st in the country among the ESI comprehensive ranking. In recent years, the university has won 8 national teaching achievement awards, and the employment rate of graduates has remained above 96%.

The university continues to improve the level of international cooperation and exchanges. It has established long-term cooperative relationships with 154 universities and research institutions in 34 countries and regions including the United States, Britain, Germany, Austria, Australia, and Japan, and established the Confucius Institute and the sino-german Language and Culture Center with the University of Graz, Austria. A number of joint education projects were held in cooperation with the University of Magdeburg in Germany and the University of Arcadia in the United States. Moreover, in collaboration with the University of Magdeburg in Germany and the University of Arcadia in the United States, a number of joint education projects have been organized, as well as a number of international research cooperation platforms have been established, such as the International Joint Research Center for Health Management, for Energy Conservation Technologies, for World Food Preservation, etc.
