Inner Mongolia University of Technology (IMUT，内蒙古工业大学，website) is located in Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, formerly known as Suiyuan Provincial Senior Industrial School, established in 1958 with the support of Tsinghua University and other institutions, and affiliated with the Ministry of Machinery Industry and the Ministry of Agricultural Machinery, and then transferred to Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in 1983.
After 70 years of development, IMUT has become a multidisciplinary university with distinctive characteristics, which is mainly engineering, combining engineering, science, literature, economics, management, law and art, and has a complete talent cultivation system of doctoral, master’s and bachelor’s degree. Now there are 21 teaching units and 52 research institutes (institutes and centers). There are more than 23,600 undergraduates and 4,900 doctoral and master’s degree students in the university.
IMUT has 3 national and ministry-level scientific research platforms, 19 autonomous region level key laboratories, 14 autonomous region level engineering (technology) research centers, 20 other autonomous region level research centers, demonstration bases and other scientific research platforms, 1 academician expert workstation, 2 postdoctoral research stations, and 32 autonomous region level science and technology innovation teams. “Since the 13th Five-Year Plan, the university has undertaken more than 1,100 scientific research projects at the regional level and above, including national science and technology major projects, national natural (social) science fund projects, and major science and technology special projects of the autonomous region, and won one second prize of national scientific and technological progress, 25 science and technology awards of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, 35 government awards of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region for philosophical and social science It has received 35 government awards for outstanding achievements, and more than 3,000 papers indexed by SCI, EI, CPCI, CSSCI and other search systems. IMUT has 2068 faculty members, 1449 full-time teachers, including 205 professors, 500 associate professors, 80 doctoral supervisors and 639 master supervisors. Among the full-time teachers, 90.82% have obtained doctoral and master’s degrees. Among the faculty members, 3 were selected for the “National Hundred Million Talents Project”, 83 received special allowances from the State Council or were awarded the title of “Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contribution” by the State and the autonomous region, and 12 faculty members were awarded the “Inner Mongolia Outstanding Talents Award”. IMUT insists on the concept of open schooling and actively carries out foreign exchanges and cooperation. The university has established and carried out substantial cooperation and exchange with universities and research institutes in 22 countries (regions), including Tsinghua University and Tianjin University, as well as Mongolia, Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Japan, Canada, etc. In 2005 and 2008, the university became a member of the “Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Government Scholarship Program” and the “China Scholarship Council”. IMUT is currently operating in the New City Campus, Jinchuan Campus and Junge Campus, covering an area of 3,228 mu, with a construction area of 875,300 square meters and a total value of 756 million yuan for teaching and research instruments and equipment. The library adopts the construction mode of “main library + branch library + subject library” and “big open, one-stop” service mode, with the existing four libraries: main library in Xincheng Campus, Yifu Library in Jinchuan Campus, architecture branch library and mechanical branch library, with a construction area of 27,400 square meters. The building area is 27,400 square meters, with 1.48 million paper books, 1.39 million electronic books, 95 Chinese and foreign language databases, and 2.24T local storage.
