Introduction to Hunan University of Science and Engineering
Hunan University of Science and Engineering (湖南科技学院) is a public full-time regular undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of education and supervised by the Department of education of Hunan Province. The school was founded in 1941, formerly known as the seventh Normal School of Hunan Province. In 2002, it was upgraded from Lingling normal college to undergraduate college, named Lingling college, and renamed Hunan University of Science and Engineering in 2004. After more than 70 years of construction and development, it has become a comprehensive application-oriented undergraduate college.
Hunan University of Science and Engineering is located in Yongzhou, one of China’s top 20 happy cities and a famous historical and cultural city. Yongzhou is also known as Lingling. According to the records of the five emperors in Shiji, it is said that “when Shun visited the south, he died in the wild of Cangwu and was buried in the south of the Yangtze River, which is the Lingling mausoleum”. Lingling is famous in the world since then, and it has become one of the important ancient place names that appeared before the Xia Dynasty and are still used up to now. In Yongzhou, Xiaoxiang River and ershui river run through the north and south, Wuling mountains run across the East and the west, Hunan Guangxi high-speed railway, Luoyang Zhanjiang railway, QUANNAN high-speed railway, Erguang high-speed railway and Xiamen Chengdu high-speed railway crisscross, and Lingling airport has opened many routes, such as Changsha, Kunming, Shenzhen, etc., with beautiful scenery, outstanding people and convenient transportation. This is the birthplace of Emperor Shun’s moral culture, Neo Confucianism culture, Yao culture and women’s script culture, which gave birth to Liu Zongyuan, Huai Su, Zhou Dunyi, he Shaoji, Li Da and other cultural celebrities. Because of its profound cultural background, it is known as “an endless book”.
The university has 16 teaching colleges, 48 general undergraduate majors, and 27 provinces (cities, districts) across the country. At present, there are 15149 ordinary undergraduate students and more than 3000 adult education students. At present, there are 1211 teaching and administrative staff, more than 900 with doctor’s and master’s degrees, and more than 80 people have been selected into the State Council government special allowance, Hunan provincial government special allowance, “Huxiang young talents” support plan, Hunan Province “121 talents” project candidates, provincial discipline leaders, and provincial young backbone teachers. Ouyang Xiaoping, an alternate member of the 19th CPC Central Committee and academician of the Chinese Academy of engineering, is the honorary president of the University. The school covers an area of about 730000 square meters, with a building area of about 510000 square meters. The total value of teaching instruments and equipment is about 150 million yuan. There are 1.1 million paper books, and the total value of fixed assets is about 839 million yuan.

In recent years, the teachers of the whole school have obtained more than 370 scientific research projects at the provincial and ministerial level, including 14 national self science fund projects, 23 National Social Science Fund and Ministry of education projects, 3 National Art Fund projects, more than 20 provincial-level scientific research and teaching achievement awards, more than 5000 academic papers published by the teachers of the whole school, more than 300 of which have been indexed and included by the three major indexes, 2 highly cited ESI papers in the world, and published More than 260 books and textbooks. Journal of Hunan University of Science and Engineering was rated as “core journal of Chinese Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences”, “national top 100 Journal of Social Sciences”, and research column of Liu Zongyuan was rated as “characteristic column of National Journal of Social Sciences”. The school has carried out extensive international exchanges and cooperation, and has carried out educational cooperation with 30 foreign universities (including the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Belarus, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia) and 8 foreign experts.
