Hebei University of Water Resources and Electric Engineering (河北水利电力学院, website) is located in Cangzhou City, on the banks of the Bohai Sea and the banks of the Canal. It is an undergraduate university directly under the Education Department of Hebei Province and jointly established with the Cangzhou Municipal Government. The school was founded in Tianjin in 1952 and was co-organized by the Hebei Provincial Department of Water Resources, Communications, and Industry. The school was named “Hebei Water Resources and Civil Engineering School”. It was one of the earliest water conservancy schools in North China at the time and the earliest in the country after liberation. One of the independently established water conservancy schools; in 1955, it was renamed as “Tianjin Water Conservancy School in Hebei Province”; in 1958, it was relocated to Baoding City, upgraded to a higher education institution, and renamed “Hebei Water Conservancy and Electricity College”; Hydropower College “; upgraded to an undergraduate college in 1960, renamed” Hebei Water Conservancy College “; renamed” Hebei Water Conservancy School “in 1963, and renamed” Hebei Hydraulic Engineering College “in 1965; moved to Pingshan County, Shijiazhuang in 1966 Gangnan Town; moved to Cangzhou City in 1970, renamed as “Hebei Water Conservancy College”; renamed “Hebei Engineering and Technology College” in 1992; March 28, 2016, approved by the Ministry of Education, the school was upgraded to undergraduate again College, renamed “Hebei Water Resources and Electricity College”.

Hebei University of Water Resources and Electric Engineering currently has three departments and one center of the Seven Colleges, with 21 undergraduate majors and 21 specialized majors. The employment rate of graduates of Hebei University of Water Resources and Electric Engineering has remained above 97% for the fourth consecutive year. The 43,000 outstanding graduates cultivated since the establishment of the school have occupied half of Hebei’s hydropower industry.
