Introduction to Harbin University

Harbin University (哈尔滨学院, website) is a comprehensive local undergraduate college approved by the Ministry of Education. In 2000, it was formed by the merger of six schools including Harbin University and Harbin Teachers College. The school implements a school-run system of “province-city co-construction, city-oriented”. Facing regional economic and social development, it is committed to training high-quality, high-skilled application-oriented talents.

Harbin University is located in Harbin, an ice city known as the “Little Paris of the East”. It is located in the core area of the Haxi New District, and is located in the university area where Harbin universities are concentrated. The school covers an area of 650,000 square meters. The campus is scattered and well-organized. The exquisite Eurasian architecture is fully exotic; the tall pine forest exudes a quiet atmosphere and the perseverance of northern Xinjiang; the lilac fragrance in summer and the ice and snow scenery in winter reveal the rich and unique northern style. The school was named a “garden-style unit” by the Heilongjiang Provincial Government.

The university now has 12 secondary colleges and 46 undergraduate programs, covering 9 university disciplines including economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management, and art. Elementary education major is a national specialty specialty construction site, art design is a national specialty comprehensive reform pilot project, and software engineering discipline is a provincial key construction discipline. 12 provincial key majors, provincial key laboratories, provincial experimental teaching demonstration centers, and provincial research bases. In the past five years, the school has undertaken 318 national, provincial and municipal scientific research projects; it has won 276 scientific research awards at various levels. In 2017, he was approved by the Heilongjiang Province University Master Degree to authorize the project construction unit, Harbin postdoctoral entrepreneurship practice base.

Harbin University currently has 653 full-time teachers, including 339 professors and associate professors, accounting for 52% of the total number of teachers; 522 teachers with doctoral and master degrees, accounting for 80% of the total number of teachers. 6 experts who enjoy special allowances from the State Council and the Provincial Government, 14 provincial teachers, outstanding middle-aged and young experts, and 14 outstanding middle-aged and young experts from the city. Many teachers have won the National Excellent Teacher Award, the National Excellent Educator Award, the Zeng Xianzi Award Awards. Harbin University recruits students from 26 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) across the country, with 11,373 full-time students. Since the establishment of the school, the school has cultivated more than 60,000 high-quality application-oriented talents for the society. Graduates have made contributions to their respective positions in education, science and technology, culture, enterprises and institutions, and played an active role in local economic construction and social development.

The university has established cooperative relations with HNA Group, ChinaSoft Group, Harbin Metro Group and other well-known enterprises; cooperated with relevant government departments to jointly build a theoretical research base for party style and clean government in Harbin, a research base for ethnic and religious work in Harbin, a Heilongjiang wetland training center, Harbin Wetland Research Institute and other scientific research institutions; in cooperation with the Education Bureau of Nangang District, Harbin, to build a primary school affiliated to Harbin College. The school insists on opening schools, and has established friendly and cooperative relations with more than 10 universities in the United States, Russia, Britain, France, Japan, South Korea, etc., and has successively hosted six overseas Chinese youth camps.
