Introduction to Guangxi Science and Technology Normal University
Guangxi Science and Technology Normal University (广西科技师范学院, website) is a state-run full-time undergraduate university. It is the first batch of pilot universities in China’s “100 School Project” of the Ministry of Education, a member school of the China University of Applied Sciences (College) Alliance; and a pilot project for the overall transformation and development of newly-built undergraduate schools in Guangxi. School, Guangxi Science and Technology Department and Laibin Municipal People’s Government jointly build a school; Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Model Teacher Education Base, Guangxi Vocational Education Teacher Training Base, Autonomous Region Teacher Education Collaborative Innovation Center; Beijing Zhongguancun Software Park, Tsinghua University Qidi Holdings, Sino-Korean Shuguang, Xindao Science and Technology and other national-level well-known enterprises cooperate in running schools; national “1 + x” certificate pilot colleges; national record creation space; Guangxi colleges and universities entrepreneurship demonstration base school.
The predecessor of Guangxi Science and Technology Normal University was Yishan Teachers College, which was founded in 1958. It merged with Liuzhou Teachers College in 1959 and was renamed Liuzhou Teachers College. In 1960, it moved from Yishan to Liuzhou to run a school. In 1962, the school was suspended during the adjustment of universities across the country. In 1971, Liuzhou Teachers College was established on the basis of Liuzhou National Agricultural Technology School. In 1982, Liuzhou Teachers College was established in the school. In 1984, it was upgraded to Liuzhou Teachers College. In 1994, it was renamed Liuzhou Teachers College. In 2005, Liuzhou School of Finance and Economics was incorporated. The school started to run in 2012 and was upgraded to the Guangxi Normal University of Science and Technology in 2015. Approved as a bachelor’s degree authorized unit in 2019.
Guangxi Science and Technology Normal University covers an area of 1617.1 acres, including 1010.1 acres in the main campus Laibin and 607 acres in the Liuzhou campus. At present, there are 16,562 full-time students and 241 international students of all kinds; there are 12 secondary colleges and 49 majors, including 25 undergraduate majors. Among the existing teachers in the school, there are 208 teachers with senior professional titles; 419 teachers with postgraduate qualifications and master’s degrees or more, and 1 doctoral supervisor; “dual teacher” and part-time teachers account for 22.5% and 25% of full-time teachers respectively; foreign teachers 4 people.
In recent years, the school’s teaching and research work has achieved remarkable results. It has won a total of 8 autonomous region-level engineering technology research centers, key disciplines, key laboratories, and humanities and social science research bases. It has created teacher education, electrical engineering and electronic technology, food and Biochemical engineering, mechanical and automotive engineering, information and communication engineering, economics and management, and other specialty clusters. The school has obtained 4 special specialty and experimental training teaching base (center) projects in the autonomous region, 1 Guangxi demonstration higher vocational education training base, and 3 Guangxi higher vocational education training bases. The school undertook 132 Guangxi higher education and vocational education teaching reform projects, 17 Ministry of Education industry-academia cooperative education programs, and 16 higher education and vocational education autonomous region-level teaching achievement awards. Won 326 scientific research projects at or above the city hall level, including presiding over one National Social Science Foundation pedagogy project, two national education science “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan” projects, presiding and participating in five National Natural Science Fund projects, and autonomous region-level scientific research 8 awards; teachers published 589 papers in Chinese core journals, 190 papers were cited by SCI, EI, and ISTP, and 125 textbooks and books were written. “Journal of Guangxi Normal University of Science and Technology” has been rated as the national and regional excellent social science journals many times.
Guangxi Science and Technology Normal University has successively been appraised as the National Advanced Collective for the Implementation of the National Physical Training Standard Implementation Measures, the National Advanced Unit for Implementing Sports Regulations, the National “Three Going to the Countryside” Advanced Collective, the National Mass Sports Advanced Unit 2013-2016, Guangxi colleges and universities have safe and civilized campuses, and advanced collectives for graduate employment in ordinary colleges and universities in the region.
