Guangxi Arts University is located in Nanning, the capital of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Currently, it is jointly established by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, the excellent university for evaluation of undergraduate teaching by the Ministry of Education, the university with characteristic advantages in Guangxi, the Guangxi doctoral unit for project-established universities, and the national mid-west universities for basic capacity construction engineering universities.
The predecessor of Guangxi Arts University was the “Guangxi Provincial National Basic School Art Teacher Training Class” initiated by Mr. Man Qianzi, a well-known musician in China, and Mr. Xu Beihong, an art educator, and Mr. Wu Bochao, a famous composer and music educator. . In the 80-year school history, Man Qianzi, Xu Beihong, Wu Bochao, Yang Taiyang, Chen Yanqiao, Chen Liang, Huang Dufeng, Zhu Peijun, Lu Huabai, Li Zhishu and other well-known domestic and foreign artists and art educators have worked in schools for a long time. They teach and administer scholarships and motivate people, which has laid a good foundation for the development of the school and accumulated a deep cultural heritage.
Guangxi Arts University currently has four campuses, namely Nanhu Campus, Xiangsi Lake Campus, West Campus and Guilin Campus in Nanning, with a total area of 655.13 acres. The school consists of the School of Music, the School of Music Education, the School of Fine Arts, the School of Fine Arts Education, the School of Design, the School of Chinese Painting / Lijiang School of Painting, the School of Dance, the School of Humanities, the School of Film and Media, the Vocational and Technical College, the School of Architectural Arts, and the School of Plastic Arts 15 teaching units including the Ministry of Public Education, the Marxism College, the College of Continuing Education / Guangxi Academy of Arts Training Center, 1 art research institute, 1 secondary art school. The school enrolls students nationwide, with about 15,000 full-time students.
Guangxi Arts University currently has six first-level master’s degree programs for fine arts, music and dance, design, art theory, drama and film, and journalism, three master’s degrees and 37 undergraduate programs There are 38 undergraduate majors and 11 higher vocational majors, forming a relatively complete higher art education system. In the fourth round of disciplinary evaluation, our school ’s first-level discipline in arts was rated as B +, entering the top 20% of the country; two first-level disciplines in music and dance and design were rated as B, entering the top 30% of the country; art theory The first-level discipline is rated as C +, which is the top 50% of the country. Among the 10 best disciplines in Guangxi, our school accounts for 3, and the proportion of disciplines rated as B or above reaches 50%. Guangxi Arts University currently has more than 1,200 faculty members, including 868 full-time teachers, more than 340 senior professional and technical positions, 3 of whom enjoy special government allowances from the State Council, 2 of whom have been recruited as Bagui scholars in the autonomous region, and 2 of whom have been employed by the autonomous region. Guangxi Arts University has carried out cooperation and exchanges with 57 national (foreign) institutions and national art groups. “China-ASEAN Music Week”, “China-ASEAN Architectural Space Design Education Summit Forum” and “China-ASEAN Dance Education Forum” organized by the school have become three influential international professional forums, of which “China-ASEAN Music Week” “Has become one of the three major platforms for the creation of” new music “in the country, and has jointly declared with the Shanghai Conservatory of Music” Shanghai Contemporary Music Week “to obtain the world’s attention for the right to host the World New Music Festival 2021.
