Introduction to Guangdong Polytechnic of Science and Trade
Guangdong Polytechnic of Science and Trade (广东科贸职业学院, website) is a public general college directly under the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education. It was formerly known as Guangdong Agricultural Management Cadre College, which is known as the cradle of Guangdong Agricultural Technology and Management Cadres. The school has an existing campus area of more than 1,000 acres, a total value of about 100 million yuan in teaching and research equipment, and more than 13,000 students.
Since the establishment of the school, the school has received the deep care and strong support of the provincial party committee, the provincial government and relevant departments and leaders at higher levels. In October 2019, the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Li Xi and the Governor Ma Xingrui visited our school successively. The former provincial party committee and provincial government leaders Ren Zhongyi, Lin Ruo, Zhu Linlin, Lu Ruihua, Guo Rongchang, Du Ruizhi, Ling Botang, Ou Guangyuan, Li Ronggen and other leaders Comrades have come to our school for guidance or inscription encouragement. Ou Guangyuan, former director of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial People’s Congress, served as the school’s honorary principal.
Guangdong Polytechnic of Science and Trade is now the project construction unit of Guangdong model higher vocational colleges, Guangdong university student innovation and entrepreneurship education demonstration school, the third batch of modern apprenticeship pilot units of the Ministry of Education, and the first batch of new national occupations Demonstration base for cultivating farmers, the second batch of state-level “Star Creation World” project units of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The school has four campuses: Guangzhou Baiyun Shijing Campus, Tianhe Wushan Campus, Tianhe Phoenix Campus, and Provincial Vocational Education Base (Qingyuan) Campus. It covers an area of 1,100 mu, a building area of 280,000 square meters, and teaching equipment of about 100 million yuan. There are 22 on-campus training bases covering all professional groups, 173 off-campus training bases, and 185 laboratories and training rooms of various types. Among them, 2 are vocational education training bases supported by the central government’s special construction, and provincial-level training bases. There are 5 training bases, 1 provincial public training center, 20 provincial college students’ innovation and entrepreneurship training programs, 7 provincial off-campus practice bases, and 23 off-campus practice bases for college students. There is a “National Vocational Skills Appraisal Office”.

The school has 11 secondary colleges (departments), including the College of Gardening and Horticulture, the College of Food and Biological Engineering, the College of Animal Science and Technology, the College of Economics and Management, the College of Business and Foreign Languages, the College of Humanities and Arts, the College of Information and Automation, the College of Food and Tourism, College, Marxism College, and the Ministry of Physical Education, etc., currently has a total of 39 majors, covering agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fisheries, civil engineering, biochemical engineering, catering and tourism, financial management, foreign language and foreign trade, computer and automation, and cultural arts. There are 7 key majors (including provincial brand majors, provincial demonstration majors, and central financial support majors), and 13 school-level key (brand) majors.
Guangdong Polytechnic of Science and Trade actively develops international talent training and applied undergraduate talent training. It has successively cooperated with more than 10 universities in Britain, the Netherlands, Taiwan, New Zealand, Australia, Finland, South Korea and other countries and regions to carry out projects such as overseas exchange studies and paid internships for students. Carry out the pilot training of high-level connection talents in cooperation with relevant undergraduate colleges and universities, and have been approved by the Provincial Department of Education to conduct high-level training of talents in biotechnology and applications, animal husbandry, veterinary medicine, horticulture, etc. The transition exam can be entered into the corresponding undergraduate college and graduated to obtain a full-time undergraduate degree.
The quality of school personnel training has been steadily improved, graduates have been widely praised by employers, and the average initial employment rate of graduates has remained above 97%. In 2015, the school was appraised as the highest vocational college in Guangdong Province with the highest satisfaction with the employment status of graduates. In various professional skills competitions, students have repeatedly made great achievements. In recent years, they have won a total of 91 awards in national and provincial skills competitions.
