Gansu Vocational and Technical College of Communications (甘肃交通职业技术学院, website) is a full-time public general public vocational college approved by the provincial government and registered by the Ministry of Education. The college’s predecessor was the Gansu Transportation School, which was established in 1956. In April 2003, the Gansu Transportation Vocational Technical College was established with the approval of the provincial government. In April 2009, it was transferred from the Provincial Department of Transportation to the Provincial Department of Education. In May 2019, it was identified as a high-quality vocational college in Gansu Province. The college covers an area of 1303.25 acres.

The college has successively been awarded the title of “Implementation of Training Bases for Skilled Talents”, “Continuing Education Bases for Professional and Technical Personnel in Gansu Province” and “Provincial Model of Civilized Units”. In 2014, it became the “first batch of cooperative colleges in the ICT industry innovation base” by the Ministry of Education; ZTE became the first batch of “vocational college digital campus construction experimental school” in 2015; in 2016, it passed the ISO9001 international quality system certification; In 2017, it officially became a project cultivation (project construction) unit of high-quality vocational colleges in Gansu Province. Gansu Vocational and Technical College of Communications has 5 departments and 2 departments including highway and bridge department, traffic surveying and mapping department, automobile and construction engineering department, management engineering department, information engineering department, basic teaching department, ideological and political teaching and research department, and continuing education center. The center has 37 majors including road and bridge engineering technology, automotive application technology, logistics management, and computer application technology. There are nearly 500 faculty members, more than 9,000 full-time students, and more than 1,600 adult correspondence students. It has a total of 9 appraisal jobs and trains more than 3,000 people at all levels and types every year. In 2011, the Provincial Department of Education and the Transportation Department signed an agreement for the joint establishment of the Gansu Transportation Vocational and Technical College by the two departments, creating a precedent for the province to jointly build higher vocational colleges by the education administrative department and industry departments. Establish long-term and stable school-enterprise cooperation with more than 100 enterprises in the fields of highways, railways, land and resources, automobiles, machinery, building materials, transportation logistics, traffic information, and aviation services in and outside the province, and jointly build external training bases. In 2015, 11 vocational education groups were established in Gansu Province, of which two were led by our institute, namely Gansu Transportation Vocational Education Group and Gansu Information Technology Vocational Education Group, in order to promote the development of modern vocational education and the depth of school-enterprise education. Integration and close cooperation between schools have taken a solid step. The student employment rate is high and the employment quality is good. In recent years, the employment rate has remained above 95%. In the process of talent training, we actively promote the “multi-certificate” system, so that the dual-certificate rate of graduates has been maintained above 90% in recent years. At the same time, some students in our college continue to further their studies by participating in undergraduate entrance examinations. And grades are at the forefront of similar institutions.
