Chengdu University of Information Technology (成都信息工程大学, website) is a provincial general undergraduate college jointly established by Sichuan Province and China Meteorological Administration and a key development of Sichuan Province. The school was founded in 1951 and restructured into the Chengdu Meteorological School of the Central Meteorological Administration in 1956; it was upgraded to an undergraduate college—Chengdu Meteorological Institute in 1978; the school was transferred to Sichuan Province by the China Meteorological Administration in 2000 and renamed Chengdu Information Engineering College; Sichuan Statistics School, formerly under the National Bureau of Statistics, was incorporated as a whole; in 2015 it was renamed Chengdu Information Engineering University. The school is a national university for the construction of basic capacity in the central and western regions, the first batch of pilot universities in the “Outstanding Engineer Education and Training Plan”, the first batch of “first-class discipline construction” universities in Sichuan Province, and a newly-established doctorate awarding unit in Sichuan Province.

The school has two campuses, the airport and Longquan, covering an area of more than 2000 acres. The school has a rich library and a modern stadium with complete facilities. The environment is elegant and the scenery is pleasant. It is an ideal place for studying and studying.

Chengdu University of Information Technology is committed to cultivating high-quality application-oriented senior professionals with a healthy mental and physical fitness, good humanistic qualities, systematic theoretical knowledge, and solid practical ability. The talent training has achieved remarkable results. Currently there are 16 colleges, 55 undergraduate majors, more than 20,000 full-time undergraduates and 2,300 graduate students, 6 national and provincial teaching teams, 1 national model teacher, 9 provincial excellent Teachers and teaching masters, there are 8 pilot programs of the “Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan” of the Ministry of Education, and 9 pilot programs of the “Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan” at the provincial level. In the past two sessions, he has won two second-level teaching achievement awards and 29 provincial-level teaching achievement awards. The school draws on the international CDIO engineering education concept and vigorously promotes the reform of education and teaching. It is the only official member of the international CDIO organization in western universities in China.

The university has strengthened discipline construction in an all-round way, and its characteristics and advantages have become increasingly prominent. The school focuses on information science and atmospheric sciences, features interdisciplinary characteristics, and focuses on engineering, science, and management as its main disciplines. Engineering, science, management, economics, literature, law, and art are coordinated and integrated. There are 2 provincial first-class construction disciplines, 5 provincial key disciplines, 11 master’s degree authorized first-level disciplines, and 8 master’s degree authorized categories, forming the three university clusters of atmospheric science, information technology, and management economics.

The university conducts scientific research in the face of the world’s leading edge of science and technology and the country’s major needs. The level of scientific research and the ability to serve society has continued to rise. There are 1 post-doctoral scientific research workstation, 12 provincial and ministerial key laboratories (including the Provincial Engineering Technology Research Center, the Philosophy and Social Research Center, and the Collaborative Innovation Center), 11 provincial key laboratories and 11 humanities and social sciences key research bases. In the past five years, the school has undertaken nearly 200 national-level projects such as the National Science and Technology Plan, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the National Social Science Foundation; it has won more than 70 provincial and ministerial-level scientific research awards, including 3 national science and technology progress awards.

Chengdu University of Information Technology currently has more than 1,200 full-time teachers, including nearly 600 senior titles, experts from the Tianfu Ten Thousand People Program, experts who enjoy special government allowances from the State Council, academic and technical leaders from Sichuan Province, and outstanding experts with outstanding contributions from Sichuan Province. More than 100 people, including more than 100 academicians, Yangtze River, Jie Qing and other high-level experts as part-time professors in our school. The teachers of the school serve more than 20 part-time doctoral supervisors, and they have 46 major influential academic part-time jobs.
