Introduction to Central South University
Central South University (中南大学, CSU) is located in Changsha City, Hunan Province, which is a famous historical and cultural city in China. It covers an area of 3.17 million square meters, with a building area of 2.09 million square meters. Central South University is one of the national key universities directly under the Ministry of education, the first batch of key construction universities of the “211 Project”, the first batch of high-level universities jointly built by the Ministry and province of the “985 Project” and the first batch of leading universities of the “2011 plan”. Central South University was formed by the merger of Hunan Medical University, Changsha Railway College and Central South University of technology in April 2000. The former Central South University of technology was founded in 1952 as the former Central South Institute of mining and metallurgy, and the former Changsha Railway University as the former Central South Institute of civil engineering and architecture in 1953. The main disciplines of the two universities were traced back to the mining and road Sciences of Hunan University of higher industry founded in 1903. The former Hunan Medical University, formerly known as Xiangya Medical College founded in 1914, is one of the earliest Western medical colleges and universities in China.
