Introduction to Beijing University of Agriculture

Beijing University of Agriculture (北京农学院, website)’s predecessor, Tongxian Agricultural School, was founded in 1956. In 1958, the Tongxian Agricultural School of Hebei Province merged with the Beijing Agricultural Cooperative Cadre School and was renamed the Beijing Agricultural School. In 1965, Beijing set up a half-agricultural and half-academic Beijing Agricultural Labor University on the basis of the Beijing Agricultural School. In 1978, it was renamed Beijing Agricultural College with the approval of the State Council. The school now covers an area of about 1,000 acres, including the school headquarters, the east campus, the north campus, and the university science park market. In addition, the school has a 1,000-acre university science and technology park farm and a 10,000-acre university science and technology garden farm. The school has been awarded the titles of Beijing Garden-style Unit, Beijing Civilized Campus, Capital Civilized Unit Model, National Civilized Unit, etc.

Beijing University of Agriculture currently has 11 secondary colleges and 3 teaching departments, with 11 master degree authorization points for first-level disciplines and 7 master degree authorization points for professional subjects. There are currently 31 undergraduate majors, of which 3 majors in horticulture, animal medicine, and agriculture and forestry economic management are national specialty construction majors. The school has 2 national (plants, animals) and 4 Beijing-level experimental teaching demonstration centers (plants, animals, food processing, management); 1 national level, 5 Beijing levels And 172 off-campus talent training bases contracted by the university to meet all the professional needs of the school’s plants, animals, garden ecology, food processing, biology and information technology, and economics and grammar; it has 2 Beijing-level on-campus practice bases (Plants, food processing); there are 8 school-level experimental teaching centers to achieve full coverage of all professional experimental teaching.
