Anthony – Zhejiang Technical Institute of Economics

My name is Anthony Bannach, but most people just call me Tony. I am an English teacher at Zheijiang Technology Institute of Economy (ZJTIE). I am a twenty-four-year-old native of Lomira, Wisconsin. I have just begun my second semester of teaching English. I graduated from the University of Minnesota-Morris in 2014 with degrees in German and music composition, and I also received my TESOL/TEFL certification that year.

I specialize in teaching conversation classes to English majors. I also am involved with the University in planning big English activities that take place once a month. If I’m not teaching I’m either studying Chinese or composing music. My two goals to accomplish in China are becoming fluent in Chinese and building up my resume in music composition, so that when I return home I can immediately pursue graduate school or freelance work in this field. If you’d like to know about my music you can go to www.anthonybannach.com.

The university is situated in the Hangzhou Economic Development Area (HEDA), which is on the outskirts of Hangzhou, however there is a new subway station directly next to the campus, making trips into the center of the city quick, easy, and very convenient. The local HEDA area however, is itself very charming, catering to thousands of students from various universities, and features inexpensive restaurants, cafes, and malls with IMAX theatres, KTVs and more.

Teaching at ZJTIE has been a wonderful way for me to pass on some of my knowledge while learning about one of the oldest cultures known to man, a place that has treated me extremely well and am glad to be living at and I would recommend this school for anyone looking to experience China and teach English.
