Wojciech Slawiński – Hubei University

“Too spicy!” Wule, who has been in China for more than a year, still can’t accept Chinese flavours and always smiles bitterly when he mentions his favourite Chinese food. At home he soaked a jar of cabbage in a jar with two stones in it, in the face of the reporter’s surprise, he said proudly: “Do not think this is kimchi, he is a lot healthier than kimchi, it is our speciality.” Because of such differences, he tends to prepare his own food at home, and will also invite Chinese friends to his home to feel the Polish food.

“There are subways and buses everywhere, and I can go directly to where I want to go, which is incredible!” Wule laughs that Wuhan’s convenient transport is also a pleasant surprise. On weekends, he especially likes to ride his bike around. “When I come across beautiful scenery on my bike, I stop and admire it, it’s my way of getting to know the city.”

Last year, he also participated in the “2023 Green Bike Ride for Foreign Institutions and International Friends in Hubei” with several foreign teachers from Hubei University, and Wule is still smiling when he recalls how happy he was chatting with his friends and travelling around the East Lake. As a “photographer”, Wule often shares his daily life on Facebook, and always receives many envious comments, which makes him very proud, “Wuhan and Hubei University are so beautiful, I love it here!”

For the future, Wule would like to work together with his colleagues in Poland and hopes that the Confucius Classroom at Jagiellonian College in Poland will grow bigger and better, “It’s a big challenge, but I’m looking forward to the new atmosphere of our Confucius Classroom coming soon.”
