Introduction to East China Normal University Affiliated Bilingual School

East China Normal University Affiliated Bilingual School or ECNU Affiliated Bilingual School (上海华东师范大学附属双语学校 ECNUAS, website) is a private K-12 boarding school co-founded by Huashi (Shanghai) Education Investment Co., Ltd, Loyal Valley Innovation Capital, and the Shanghai International Automobile City Group. ECNUAS is located in Anting area, Jiading District in Shanghai, and offers international curriculum for Chinese and expatriate students. Shanghai Qishun Assets Management Co., along with its partner EIM (see below), will provide full support to ECNUAS in international curriculum development, campus network, teacher hiring, quality assessment, professional training, management consultation, and other areas. With the assistance and instruction from Jiading District Government and the District Bureau of Education, ECNUAS aims to become a high-quality Chinese school that can impact the world.

East China Normal University Affiliated Bilingual School is also the first K-12 (kindergarten, elementary school, middle school, high school) bilingual school in Jiading District, the first IB project school in Jiading District, and the school with the highest number and proportion of foreign teachers in Jiading District. The K-12 has a consistent bilingual education curriculum system. It has created preschool, elementary, elementary and junior high school bridging courses, focused on the construction of K-12 “Chinese Culture Reading Course”, and more than 170 elective courses.

In 2018, the school officially became IB World School, teaching DP courses in the high school. In 2020, the school will officially become a member school of IBPYP and implement IBPYP courses in kindergartens. There are currently more than 1,500 students, 250 faculty members, and teachers in 16 countries and regions.

All teachers of the school graduated from well-known universities at home and abroad. All Chinese and foreign teachers have international education or exchange backgrounds. 100% of them have a bachelor’s degree, 60% have a master’s degree or above, and 4 teachers have doctoral degrees. Foreign teachers are professional teachers from Britain, the United States, France, New Zealand, and other countries. 54% of teachers in high school are IB global examiners.
