Anqing Normal University
From October 31st to November 1st, the 2020 “Guocai Cup” National College Student English Speech Contest (Anhui Province Final) was held at Suzhou University.
Dave, foreign English teacher from Anqing Normal University , led English majors of the school to participate in the competition. They achieved outstanding results in this competition. Senior student Xu Yifan of class 2017 ranked second in the provincial final. He will represent Anhui Province in the national final, which is to be held in Beijing in December 2020.

Southwestern University of Finance and Economics
The Study Abroad Institute of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics held the “Autumn Song Festival”.

Sun Yat-sen University
On October 13, the China-US University Presidents’ Online Forum was held under the theme of “Fostering More Open, Integrative and Resilient Universities”, bringing together presidents of 20 Chinese and American universities to explore the development of higher education.
Chinese Vice Premier Sun Chunlan delivered remarks via video for this important event for China-US cultural exchanges. President Luo Jun of Sun Yat-sen University attended the forum and delivered a keynote speech at invitation.
In his speech titled “Strengthening International Collaboration in Science and Technology to Build More Open Universities”, President Luo Jun mentioned that Sun Yat-sen University aims to build itself into a university that is comprehensive, research-oriented, and open, following the universal path of how first-class universities develop in the world. “Strengthening international cooperation in science and technology is one of our most important strategies”, he added.
President Luo highlighted the progress of three major research cooperation platforms of Sun Yat-sen University. Among them, Tianqin Project designed to detect gravitational wave in space has been successfully proceeding to the second step. China’s largest oceanographic research vessel—Zhong Shan Da Xue will set off on its maiden voyage next year, which will serve as a multidisciplinary and multifunctional research platform and a talent training base. The National Supercomputer Center in Guangzhou has yielded a large number of high-level application results, including efficient and easy-to-use multidisciplinary software integrating supercomputer big data and artificial intelligence. “Sun Yat-sen University is willing to share technological platforms with global universities to facilitate cutting-edge scientific research, the progress of major projects and the development of strategic industries”, President Luo said.
In recent years, Sun Yat-sen University has conducted substantive cooperation and exchanges with well-known American universities. It has signed cooperation agreements with 36 top American universities, including the University of Chicago, University of California, Berkeley and University of California, Davis, etc.
Schools and affiliated hospitals of the university have carried out substantial cooperation on research and teaching with Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Yale University, National Institutes of Health, Texas Medical Center, etc.
Under the new international situation, Sun Yat-sen University will promote deeper, broader and more pragmatic exchanges and cooperation with world-class universities and research institutions in a more innovative manner.
This Forum, jointly organized by Tsinghua University and Yale University, is attended by presidents of Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University, Sun Yat-sen University, Macau University, Yale University, Cornell University, Columbia University, Washington University in St. Louis and other well-known universities.

Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics
The 6th NUAA International Cultural Festival was inaugurated on October 30 by NUAA President Shan Zhongde, Vice President Jiang Bin and other officials. To commemorate this cultural festival, student delegates from 17 nations, clad in their native costumes, joined all the guests.
Students from Ecuador, Zimbabwe, Kazakhstan and other countries singing and dancing on the stage during the opening ceremony displayed their youthful energy and passion well. In order to show their indigenous culture, beautifully arranged booths were adorned with national elements, scenic images and local cuisine.
At the same time, this International Week of Culture is also part of a campaign to mark the university’s 68th anniversary, which lasts from 29 October until 4 November. To enjoy the festival of world culture, faculty and students from home and abroad gathered happily together.

NUAA currently has over 1000 students from 108 countries worldwide. Because of the influence of COVID-19, the event was attended by about 300 foreign students. This “A Common Dream A Shared Culture” cultural festival would represent local and abroad students as a bridge for connecting and developing their world perspective, ultimately fostering talents for the new age of growth with an international view.
