At 9:00 a.m. on March 13, 2024 teachers and students from the College of Foreign Languages of Jianghan University held a unique university life seminar for high school students of Macheng No.2 Middle School who came to JHU for study in J31 Teaching Building, aiming at helping high school students to deeply understand the university life and the characteristic culture of the College of Foreign Languages, so as to lay a solid foundation for their future study and life planning.
A lively and interesting interactive speaking class with foreign teachers became one of the highlights of the seminar. Stephanie, a foreign teacher from the United States, conducted a fun and entertaining oral communication with the students through a light and humorous way. With Individual Habits as the topic of discussion, the foreign teacher guided the students out of the traditional classroom to experience an immersive language learning environment through simulated situational dialogues and other teaching methods. This interactive mode not only improved the students’ English speaking ability, but also made them feel the charm of English learning in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
In the session of experience sharing and exchange, three seniors from the College of Foreign Languages of Jianghan University gave an in-depth introduction of their university life from multiple dimensions respectively. Combined with their own experiences, they elaborated on how to improve their comprehensive personal qualities during college. These experiences are a valuable asset for students who are about to enter the university campus.
Yang Yiling (President’s Scholarship recipient) of the English-French Bilingual Experimental Class of 2020 shared her extremely fulfilling experience of university life in terms of academic competitions, interest development, university studies and internships in international companies, and hoped that students would explore knowledge through experimentation, gain from diversified perspectives, and grow up by touching the world.

Zhang Xiaoxin from the class of 2020, majoring in English, shared her experience as a cadre in her four years of college, and thus briefly introduced the work of the class committee, the process of party member development, and work-assistance to the students, encouraging them to enrich their lives while studying.
Wu Ducheng, the 2020 French major who was the president of the Youth League Committee of the College of Foreign Studies, shared his social practice and internship experiences, from the planning of the 2023 “Spring of JiangDa” French-speaking countries’ cultural experience week to the volunteer activities of the 36th Hundred Flowers Award for Popular Cinema of the College of Foreign Studies, from the governmental internship of the Culture and Tourism Bureau of the Economic and Social Development Zone to the internship of Wuhan Elsa International School, which touched the hearts and eyes of the students. From the planning of “2023 Spring” French-speaking cultural experience to the 36th Popular Film Award volunteer activity, from the political internship in the Cultural and Tourism Bureau of Jingkai District to the internship in Wuhan Aisha International School, the students were touched by the wonderful pictures shown by the seniors.
Teachers and students from the School of Foreign Languages of JHU used their own experiences and insights to paint a colourful picture of university life for the students of Ma Cheng No.2 Middle School. This study tour planted the seeds of JHU and the seeds of dreams in the hearts of the students, inspiring them to explore and challenge in their future study and life!
