Job Description

This section outlines the duties you will be expected to perform as an EEPIC teacher. These duties are listed as a general guideline. A more comprehensive list of duties will be announced at the time of your local placement.

The duties are carried out under the guidance of your Provincial Bureau of Education depending on which province you will be placed. Your place of work may be in a school, Bureau of Education, training center or any other educational institute located in the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Education. You may be designated to work in multiple locations and the grade level of your students will not be made available until after your arrival to China.

Responsibilities:

  • To assist Chinese teachers with their English classes, and/or jointly conduct English classes with Chinese teachers, and/or extracurricular activities or English camps.
  • To conduct English conversation classes for Chinese students and teachers.
  • To prepare teaching materials for English language education.
  • To assist developing teaching materials for English language education.
  • To assist with activities related to English language education and other extracurricular activities.
  • To demonstrate a good command of the English language, both written and spoken.

 

School Timetable

A typical school day in an ISAC participating school Monday to Friday:

1st Class 8:00-8:40
2nd Class 8:50-9:30
3rd Class 10:00-10:40
4th Class 10:50-11:30
Lunch Break 11:30-2:00
5th Class 2:00-2:40
6th Class 2:50-3:30
7th Class 3:40-4:30
After Class Activities: After 4:30

 

Classes include Chinese, English, Math, Music, Science, Sport, Arts, Information Science etc. As English Teachers you will be teaching English, and each class for 40 minutes.

Note that different placement schools have different time and schedule, please consult each school for details on working and teaching hours.


 

Work Load

An EEPIC teacher is generally assigned 12-18 classes/week, 40 mins each, which means in average 3 classes each working day. A typical school day will be 1 or 2 classes in the morning and the rest(another 1 or 2) in the afternoon. For the time in between classes, you can do your own prep work and take a break. Note that you may encounter a week with more classes than average, and another week with less. In general you will have a reasonable workload, and the average amount is 12-18 classes each week.


 

Extra-curriculum

ISAC Schools regard foreign teachers as images of the school and have all kinds of activities for you to have fun. You will participate in these activities organized by your placement school or local Bureau of Education. According to feedback from past EEPIC teachers, there will never be short of activities you can take part in as a foreign teacher. You placement chools will pleased if you are willing to represent the school and be active in the community. Activities include foreign school exchange, meetings and tours arranged for parents of your students. etc.
