Founded in 1994, Nanchang Foreign Language School is the 1st public foreign language school in Jiangxi province. It is one of the provincial key schools in Jiangxi province and a member of the Foreign Language School Research Committee, the Foreign Language Teaching Committee, China Educational Council. It was also authorized as the Experimental Foreign Language School by the Foreign Language Teaching Research Centre of National Basic Education Centre. In November 2005, it was approved by the Ministry of education as a “foreign language school with the qualification of college admission”. In 2016, it was awarded the excellent key middle school in Jiangxi province by the provincial education department.
The school is located in Nanchang, known as the “hero city”, a famous historical and cultural city in China. Outstanding people; profound historical and cultural background and beautiful natural environment provide unique conditions for the construction and development of Nanchang Foreign Language School. The school occupies approximately 187 mu (Taoyuan Campus 60 mu and Jiulong Lake Campus 127 mu). Taoyuan Campus has complete teaching facilities and perfect functions, which provide a strong guarantee for the cultivation of students’all aspects of expertise and abilities. Jiulong Lake Campus is magnificent, it is run by digital monitoring system twenty-four seven.

All the staff from the principal to the very last teacher are demanded to be moral, skillful and upright; To foster moral, upright, creative talents is the goal with which we run our school. The school has 274 staff members, including 1 doctor, 49 masters, 223 undergraduates, 2 Elite teachers, 106 famous teachers, 2 excellent teachers in Nanchang, 5 provincial-level subject leaders, 16 provincial famous teachers, 16 teachers have been the leader teachers of their subjects . English teaching and Chinese teaching are very famous city wide. More than 200 teachers were sent to different countries, such as England, America, Canada, Singapore or Australia etc. to get further education. 6 teachers were the volunteers of the Confucius Institute to teach Chinese overseas. Nanchang cuisine belongs to Jiangxi cuisine, characterized by crisp, fresh, spicy and salty taste. Local vegetables appear in almost every dish with the use of wild flowers also common, like the rest place of south China, rice is staple with pork usually substituting beef as the main meat used, and chicken is also widely used. Nanchang is famous for its food, spice is added to most dishes and frying is main form of cooking.
Nanchang has a monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate with four distinct seasons. Winters are short and cool with occasional frosts; it begins somewhat sunny and dry but becomes progressively wetter and more overcast. Spring begins especially gloomy, and from April to June, each month has more than 220 mm (8.7 in) of rainfall. Summer is long and humid, with amongst the highest temperatures of any Chinese provincial capital, and with the sun shining close to 60 percent of the time in July and August, is the sunniest time of year. Autumn is warm to mild with the lowest rainfall levels of the year. The monthly 24-hour average temperature ranges from 5.5 °C (41.9 °F) in January to 29.5 °C (85.1 °F) in July, while the annual mean is 18.00 °C (64.4 °F).
