Xiamen is an important city on the southeast coast of the People’s Republic of China. It is a modern international port scenic tourist city located on the western bank of the Taiwan Strait and on the southeast coast of Fujian Province. When Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew visited Xiamen, he called Xiamen a “garden city.” Former US President Richard Nixon also praised Xiamen as “Oriental Hawaii”.
