About Foreign Faculty at Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology
From 2004 to 2009, a total of 674 foreign scholars came to our university to give lectures and exchanges. Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology hired 46 foreign teachers to teach at the school. The foreign teachers covered all levels of education from undergraduates to doctoral students. Most foreign teachers come from the United States, Britain, Australia, South Africa and other countries, and some have PhDs in Linguistics or Masters in Education.
In order to ensure the quality of the foreign teachers hired, the relevant departments of the school spent a lot of time and energy in hiring, strictly selecting the best via primary resume selection, telephone and online interview, and teaching video evaluation. The number of long-term foreign teachers increased from 5 in 2004 to 13 in 2009, ranking among the top universities in Shaanxi. The courses taught by foreign teachers include oral English teaching, writing for English majors, Anglo-American profile, Anglo-American literature and other courses. In the future, foreign experts will be hired to teach professional courses. The school actively improves the working and living environment of foreign teachers. In 2007 and 2008, the school renovated the housing for foreign teachers twice, equipped and updated many living facilities.
