School of International Studies of Zhengzhou University
History: Zhengzhou University School of International Studies was formed in April 2001 by the former Foreign Language Department of Zhengzhou University, the former Foreign Language Teaching Department of Zhengzhou University, the former Department of Science and Technology of Zhengzhou University of Technology and Foreign Language Training Center and the former Foreign Language Teaching Department of Henan Medical University. The history of running a school began in the former Department of Foreign Languages of Zhengzhou University, which was established in 1960.
Faculty: There are 176 faculty members, including 158 full-time teachers. There are 43 teachers with doctoral degrees and 93% of teachers with master’s degrees or above. There are 6 doctoral tutors and 8 doctoral students. In addition, more than 20 foreign teachers are hired each year.
Subject development: Seven master’s degrees authorization unites in English language and literature, foreign linguistics and applied linguistics, comparative literature and world literature, Japanese language and literature, German language and literature, Russian language and literature, and MTI. Foreign language and literature is a key discipline in Henan Province.
Professional construction: There are four undergraduate majors in English, Russian, Japanese and German. The English major is “Henan Province Higher Education Specialty Construction Point” and “Henan Province Higher Education Professional Comprehensive Reform Pilot”; “English Professional Teaching Team” and “College English Teaching Team” are the teaching teams of Henan Provincial Higher Education Institute; “College English “It is the “National Quality Course” and the “National Excellent Resource Sharing Course”; “Culture and Intercultural Communication” is the “National Video Open Course”.
Scientific research: There are 9 research institutions including the Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences in Henan Province, “The Zhengzhou University English and American Literature Research Center”, “China Foreign Language Discourse Research Center” and “Asia Pacific Research Center”. The secretariats of the three international academic organizations such as the International Society of Ecological Translation Studies, the Asia-Pacific International Exchange English Society and the Steering Committee of the Inter-Straits, Hong Kong and Macao Translation and Intercultural Communication Conference are located in our hospital. In recent years, he has undertaken two major projects of the National Social Science Fund, eight national social science fund general projects and more than 30 provincial and ministerial level scientific research projects.
International exchange: Established exchanges and cooperation with nearly 60 universities in more than 20 countries around the world. There are teachers overseas training bases in the United States, the United Kingdom and New Zealand. Each year, students are selected to study in cooperative universities in Germany, Japan, Russia and other countries.
Social Services: Undertake the National Foreign Language Proficiency Test (WSK), the National Foreign Language Translation Certificate Examination (NAETI), the Cambridge Business English Certificate Examination (BEC), the China International Talent Level Examination (BFT), and the Chinese Translation Professional Qualification (Level) Examination ( CATTI) and other social examinations.

Job Requirements:
We need from you the following: you are a native English speaker: a citizen of a country in which English is a primary and native language. Moreover, you have a university degree, preferably a B.A., M.A. or Ph.D. in areas of Applied Linguistics, English Language & Literature, History, Education, Philosophy, Anthropology, or other humanity programs. Candidates who hold a Master’s or Doctoral degree can be offered a higher starting salary. Bachelors normally start with (gross) 7,000 RMB per month, Masters 8,000, and Doctors 9,000 RMB per month. We look for 2 years related work experience and/or a TEFL/TESOL certificate. We expect you to be passionate about teaching, ready to contribute to this nation. A clean bill of health and an age lower than 60 is also required.

Some more information
The contract runs from late August through June, with a 5-6 weeks paid holiday (with a bonus of one month extra salary) during the Chinese ‘Spring Festival’ in January and February! An annual roundtrip international airfare is also paid for by the school and we would to book it for you (if you want). Housing is either a comfortable hotel studio (one bedroom) or an apartment (two bedrooms), completely furnished (including airco). In addition, all Chinese holidays are off as well. The University of Zhengzhou is a large and international institution offering studies in all general disciplines to nearly 70,000 students.
