Introduction to China University of Mining and Technology
Founded in 1909, China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT, website) is one of the key national universities directly under the administration of the China’s Ministry of Education.It is also listed in the national “211 Project” and “985 Innovation Platform for Advantageous Disciplines”, which is a government program designed to support and develop top institutions of higher education in China. As a distinctive multi-disciplinary research-oriented top university with a history of over 100 years, CUMT has been playing an important leading role in the coal energy industry and the provincial economic and social development as well. Meanwhile, as one of the first batch of universities qualified to confer doctoral and master degrees, China University of Mining and Technology has its own Graduate School. Located in Xuzhou of Jiangsu Province, CUMT covers an area of 297 hectares, in which the Wenchang campus covers an area of 107 hectares.

Requirements
1. Candidates should have the ability to teach a variety of classes, such as listening, speaking, writing, British/American/Germany society and culture, newspaper reading, literature, etc.
2. The teaching load varies depending upon the Department’s needs and teacher requests which are to approved in advance.
3. The minimum teaching load is 16-20 (including Language teaching courses around 16 class hours per week and General education elective courses at least 2 class hours per week) hours per week. The salary level is based on the number of hours assigned.
4. In addition to teaching, successful candidates will be expected to prepare lessons, correct written assignments, complete administrative tasks and have 1.5 office hours per week.
5. Successful candidates are also expected to help develop the environment of English or German language learning in the University and the Department.
6. Specifically, each teacher will present one English or German lecture on topics agreed upon by the teacher and the Department.
7. Teachers may also be asked to judge various English or German contests; i.e. music, writing, and speaking competitions, and to audio record examination questions.
Qualifications
Candidates should be native English speakers (depending on your lessons) and have at least a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area. Teaching experience in higher education and a publication recordwould be an advantage. Preferred candidates should have a minimum of at least two years experience or degree holders majoring in education and language . Candidates should be committed to high quality teaching and a willingness to assist students.

Payment Scale
– 70,000 RMB annually for bachelor holder
– 80,000 RMB annually for master holder
– 90,000 RMB annually for PhD holder.
– Plus: 15,000 RMB annual accommodation subsidy OR apartment on campus (will
charge for electricity, heating, etc.)
– 10,000 RMB annual traffic allowance
– 1,500 RMB/year for health insurance
