For ISAC Teachers from the 2019 Fall intake, contact ISAC and your host university to arrange your arrival date in China.
– If you choose to fly to Hangzhou, the Xiaoshan International Airport is the nearest airport.
– If you fly to Shanghai Pudong International Airport or Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport,
you can either take a high speed rail (1 hour) or bus (2.5 hours) to Hangzhou.

Orientation FAQ

Hangzhou is the capital of Zhejiang Province on the east coast of China. Hangzhou is about 150 km away from Shanghai.

Hangzhou is one of the most green and popular tourist destinations in China. Though it has been through recent economic and technological developments, it still remains its historic beauty and cultural heritage. Hangzhou is also one of the most modern and vibrant cities, with many e-commerce companies boosting the local economy.

You should bring your passport (with a valid work visa) and the Notification Letter of Work Permit. You should print it out after you receive it from your placement school.

Yes. Family are welcome. However, the additional expenses should be paid by the foreign teachers for their family members including food and accommodation (only if you require additional room).

No, it is not mandatory. However, you are encouraged to participate and meet up with other foreign teachers. You will also be meeting up with ISAC staff and school representatives.

We understand that some teachers may have different arrival times or schedule conflicts. For those who cannot make it, you can always visit us during your summer or winter break.
