Zhejiang University of Science and Technology

Zhejiang University of Science and Technology (浙江科技学院, ZUST, website) was founded in 1980 by Zhejiang University. After nearly 40 years of development, the university has become a distinctive application-oriented provincial university with master’s degree, bachelor’s degree-granting rights, and international student enrolment rights.

The university has two campuses. The Xiaoheshan Campus is located on the Xixi Wetland in Xihu District, Hangzhou. The campus covers an area of more than 1,900 acres and a building area of 470,000 square meters. Anji Campus is located in Anxiang, Zhuxiang, which has the reputation of UN-Habitat Award, with a land area of 800. More than a mu, the building area is 165,000 square meters. The natural environment of the campus is beautiful, the mountains are beautiful, the lake is the shadow of the lake, and the former chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Zhang Dejiang once praised “the true mountain is really a good place to study.”

There are 14 secondary colleges and one teaching department under the school; there are 56 undergraduate majors; there are five academic master’s degree programs authorized by the first-level disciplines and five master’s degree programs. The school recruits students from 24 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities); there are more than 17,000 full-time undergraduates and postgraduates; more than 2,100 international students, including more than 1,400 academic students. The total value of teaching and research instruments and equipment is more than 372 million yuan, and the books are more than 1.7 million.

The university has a team of outstanding talents with international vision, first-class academic level, high morality and ethics, and reasonable echelon structure. There are more than 1,390 faculty members, more than 1,070 full-time teachers, more than 510 senior titles, more than 40% of doctoral teachers, and more than 30% of overseas academics with more than six months of experience. The university is a Sino-German cooperative institution as determined by the Ministry of Education. The school always regards international exchanges and cooperation as an important strategy for school development. The school is the first batch of colleges and universities to study in China, the “China-Germany Forum” base construction unit, the member of the China-Central and Eastern European Countries Association, the members of the Silk Road Business School Alliance, and the “Zhejiang International University”. The first batch of construction units is the first batch of “Silk Road” Chinese Government Scholarship Universities, the China Scholarship Foundation Outstanding Undergraduate International Exchange Scholarship Program Funding Institutions, the China Scholarship Fund Young Leaders Outbound Training Program Funding Institutions and the Chinese Government Students studying in China are enrolled in colleges and universities.

The university has established exchanges and cooperation with 110 universities outside Germany, Australia, France, the United States, Britain, Japan, Belgium, Romania and other countries, and more than 140 international cooperation and exchange projects. Especially in the Sino-German cooperation, it has a long history and fruitful results. It has become an important window for education, science and technology, and cultural exchanges and cooperation between Zhejiang Province and the whole country. The German Chancellor Merkel’s achievements in Sino-German cooperation during the G20 Hangzhou Summit Appreciation, former German President Herzog and Woolf visited the school.

The university is one of the universities with the most internationalization courses taught in English in Zhejiang Province. There are ten undergraduate courses in English, and there are 11 international programs in English. The two international programs are all internationally selected in Zhejiang. Provincial Department of Education Internationalization Professional Construction Project. The school has organized three undergraduate-level Sino-foreign cooperative education projects in cooperation with the French University of Cerzi Pontoise and the University of Bridgeport, USA. The first cooperation in Zhejiang Province was held in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Lübeck and the West Coast University of Applied Sciences. Sino-German Institute of Engineers, a Sino-foreign cooperative education institution that is not independently established at the undergraduate level. The school has established two overseas Confucius Institutes in Romania and Germany, among which the Confucius Institute at the Cluj-Babish-Payayi University in Romania has been awarded the “Advanced Confucius Institute”.
